Default Which Underclassmen Will Declare / Return in 2014?

Which underclassmen do you think will be declaring early for the draft next year, and which do you think will opt to return to school for their junior or senior seasons?

RS Soph. WR Kelvin Benjamin FSU will declare if he has a big year
Jr. CB Quandre Diggs Texas will declare as well. I am very high on Diggs despite the height issues.

Fresno State has a big-time Redshirt Sophomore WR in Davante Adams who'll probably stick around another year. Couple-mid-round juniors in FS Derron Smith and DT Tyler Davison who should do likewise.

Bradley Roby and Ryan Shazier. Maybe Braxton Miller if he improves drastically this year.

Has he said that? I've been keeping an eye on him. He's got pretty much everything you'd want in a pro receiver and broke out early in his career, but I don't know what his priorities are. Seemed like a candidate to declare just from looking at his resume, but I don't really know anything about him other than noticing his play and then looking up what numbers I could find.

Allen Robinson has already talked about that no matter what, he will be returning to PSU and not going pro after this year.

Message-board word from some insider guys who have been spot-on reliable on other stuff regarding FS. Obviously things can change, but the general feeling is that his momma wants him to stick around and get an education.

He's got everything you could want in terms of physical talent but he still has room to improve, particularly in terms of route running. IMO that extra year is the difference between going 3rd round or so this year in a fairly talented WR class and a possible first-round selection in 2015.

Davante Adams, I have not seen much of the guy, but regardless of which year is the better year for receivers, if he has a monster year he should come out.

Simple as that, talent wise and development wise he will become what he is supposed to become. But with money, regardless if he is great or not coming out after a big year is never a bad thing. Only thing that can happen after a big year is a worse year if you come back, or at least that is what usually happens. Especially when your starting quarterback Carr is gone since he is a RS senior. Ask Matt Barkely who lost millions because he came back, but again that is just in terms of money not his player development.

Sure every NFL team would love to have all players stay in college four years and develop, that would be a lot more sound prospect and know what he can and cannot do but it does not happen that way.

Looking at the possible receivers in both 2014 and 2015 assuming potential JR or RS SOPH entries, both have good classes and talented players in them. Sure 2014 is a very powerful year but that is assuming a lot of juniors come out, if they do not it will be something different. And 2015, the possible current SOPH receivers are pretty good that could come out early in 2015.

2014 potential competition
Marqise Lee USC
Sammy Watkins Clemson
Malcolm Mitchell Georgia
Kelvin Benjamin Florida State RS SOPH
Jordan Matthews Vanderbilt
Shaquelle Evans UCLA
DeVante Parker Louisville
DeAnthony Thomas Oregon
Kasen Williams Washington
Brandon Coleman Rutgers
TJ Jones Notre Dame

2015 potential competition
Amari Cooper Alabama
Quinshad Davis UNC
Stefon Diggs Maryland
Donte Moncrief Ole Miss
Allen Robinson Penn State
Phillip Dorsett Miami FL
Jamie Wilson Western Michigan
Brandon Carter TCU
Brandin Cooks Oregon State
Dolapo Macarthy Purdue
Ralph Abernathy Cincinnati
Devin Smith Ohio State
Titus Davis Central Michigan
Tyler Lockett Kansas State
Odell Beckham LSU
Kenny Bell Nebraska
Jarvis Landry LSU
Rashad Greene Florida State
Jeff Greene Georgia Tech

Way to long way to say, if Adams has a great year, he will come out. And if he does not, that would be quite foolish. Graduate in the summer time during the offseason, freaking A......

From what I've heard, that pass rusher from Mizzou might be one to look at.

Missing RBs, I'd expect at least these 4 to declare:

DeAnthony Thomas
Lache Seastrunk
Ka'Deem Carey
Bishop Sankey

I think technically Dyer still has 2 years of eligibility left so count him too, and maybe Isaiah Crowell.

The rest of the list looks solid, I'd add Oregon's TE Colt Lyerla.

I would be shocked if Havenstein from Wisconsin leaves early...the only one from UW to consider would be if RB Melvin Gordon blows up this year.

Rumors are starting to pop up that James Wilder Jr. will leave if he has a good year. With his style of running and the fairly limited carries he has had dating back to HS he could have tremendous value, especially after NFL Scouts get a good look at his physique.

I'm sure he will. I get the impression watching him that college is a bit of an inconvienance and in that offense he isn't going to put up any significant numbers by staying another year.

Likely, but still not set in stone.

Thomas is a possibility but I would call him a slot receiver, not a running back, really doubt he plays that in the NFL. He has to prove he can take a hit before he plays NFL RB, don't see Jeff Demps or Chris Rainey ripping up the NFL, no big surprise they were never asked to run the ball physically because they cannot, Rainey so so, Demps really could not, they only get it in space and break long runs in space. Similar to Thomas until he proves otherwise, I see him as a slot receiver possibly.

Seastrunk, is interesting, will see if he can put up with the pressure and hype on him this year. The other two backs, not sure they are elite, Cary is ok but more of a system guy. Stefphon Jefferson of Nevada last year ripped it up, great season, the guy was not even drafted, got on as a undrafted FA but still, the kid was a system back and Carey is possibly, will see what he does.

Crowell, I used to like him, but really the issues at Georgia are a problem, and yes he was good, but compared to the backs they had as freshman last year, they make Crowell look like a piece of crap. He is lucky he is no longer with Georgia, he would never be seeing the field.
