He was a 2 time All-Pro during his career and was just a complete MLB, very much in the mold of a Ray Lewis...fiery leader that could do anything that was asked of him.

He jammed his neck on a routine play against Seattle and might have been rushed back...but either way the Broncos lost their heart and soul on D, when he was in his prime.

But outside of Terrell Davis, I think Sterling Sharpe is the obvious choice.... he was outproducing almost everyone and right there with Jerry Rice. I have to think given that Favre was just hitting stride when Sharpe was hurt, Sharpe would have only gotten better... but again damn neck injuries

There were plenty of people who legitimately thought that Sharpe was better than Rice. In hindsight, I don't agree with those people; but it says a lot that it was even a topic of debate.

Good story with him and his Caucasian sidekick Brian Piccolo.
Movie you should all see.

Sayers was special. Like Bo, Dupree, Sims. Damn knees.

Yeah, I remember Al Wilson. He was as solid as they come. I remember really wanting the Rams to draft him, hoping he would fall to the 2nd round in '99. (London Fletcher had yet to establish himself).

Nick Collins is a big one for me. Along with how about Robert brooks or Leroy butler both had shorter careers because of injuries.

Perhaps not by injury but can you imagine the numbers Marcus Allen would have had if he wasn't wasted on the Raiders bench because Al Davis was an asshole,

Robert Brooks for sure as he was just at the beginning of greatness... he replaced, essentially, Sterling Sharpe. From the same school.

ACL got him dammit.

But Leroy Butler played quite a while before his injury.... he already was going a bit downhill, unlike Sterling, Robert, and Nick Collins.

In those 3 years, he out-produced Rice, for whatever production is worth.....
Rice, 92-94: 294 catches, 4203 yards, 14.3 yards/catch, 38 TDs
Sharpe, 92-94: 314 catches, 3854 yards, 12.3 yards/catch, 42 TDs

So, not really. 4 more TDs, but 349 fewer yards. Rice was better than Sharpe in every facet of playing wide receiver...except he dropped more balls.

Given the success of Olandis Gary and Mike Anderson in the same offense I really question how great TD was versus how stat friendly Denver's offense was for him.

Hindsight is always 20-20 but if TD had a long career we could have easily been talking about a guy that could have been "one of the best".

Which is a fair point had he stayed healthy then we never see two scrubs put up huge seasons in the same offense. Overall I would put Davis behind Curtis Martin in terms of overall talent.

I think the same can be said about Clinton Portis, had he not been traded from the Broncos.

Watching Portis as a Bronco was amazing. It really was. I can't help but wonder what kind of stats he'd have put up if he hadn't been traded.

The guy had back to back 1500 yard seasons with 14-15 rushing tds, 1800-1900 yards from scrimmage.

In his first two seasons he put up 3099 yards, 29 rushing tds, 678 receiving yards and 2 receiving tds. That's very impressive stats.

I know Champ has had a great career as a Bronco and was needed badly, and is still there, but I still question the move to trade Portis
