Lions sign Israel Idonije, DL.

Good depth to go along with CJ Mosley

I love this move. Jason Jones can move to DT at times now too. Less reliance on Willie Young and Devin Taylor. Idonije had a really good year last year too and will help in both run defense and pass rush. Plus he's versatile too.

Vet 4th safety. With Amari Spievey's concussions, it's better than turning to John Wendling or Ricardo Silva like last year. And Hope led the Falcons in special teams tackles last year.

That's looking very team friendly for the Giants but still a great deal for Cruz. 6 years, ~46M and 16M guaranteed. Nice.

As per NFL network and our former beat writer Aditi K., she said that this was the deal on the table. He finally took it. This was the deal that Mara said would make Cruz a rich young guy. It was a good contract and glad he signed it.

I am not optimistic on Nicks re-signing with us.

If I'm the Giants no way I re-sign Nicks now. I just don't think it's smart to lock up two WR's making over 7 million especially when you have a young talented guy in Randle who I think is ready to blow up when given the opportunity. That said, I think Nicks is a better talent then Cruz and more valuable but being that Randle is in place it would make it an easy decision.

The fact that Nicks wants 10+ mil and has constantly battled some sort of nagging injury makes it a landslide. I'd ride it out this year, continue to develop Randle, tag Nicks next year and see what type of offer I could get for him. Give that money to JPP next year.

I think this is the most likely scenario moving forward. I think the Giants will do exactly that.

And I think in our system, Cruz is harder to replace than Nicks. Nicks is the better player, but for this type of offense the slot guy is harder to find.

I said this on our MB but I think former Pro personnel Director, and now current Panthers GM will poach Nicks.

He is from NC, went to HS, and College at UNC there, and I think he goes there. I just have a gut feeling this will happen for the reasons I mentioned in our section.

It's unfortunate for them because Nicks is the #1 when healthy and is a dynamic gamebreaker. I mean I wouldn't fault any team that does give him the 10+ mil when he hits the market.

This season will be key. He needs to stay healthy for once and not have an injury that keeps him out OR lingers throughout the season that hampers his play. If he can be 100% healthy and put up numbers he will get paid if not, hopefully we can re-sign for a discount.

If he wants more, then I can part with him. I trust Eli in making the next X productive.

Nicks is a beast. If he can stay healthy he's amazing. Just for us, it doesn't make sense to extend him if Randle plays well this year, bc there's no point in paying so much money at WR when you have Eli at qb.

Eli can always develop a WR.

The problem is that Nicks production doesn't warrant the money he wants. He isn't really injury prone, but he does tend to get nagging injuries.

The market will see a really young WR who is well rounded, has good hands and can make plays. Someone will likely give him 10m a year, but if I were the Giants I don't think I could warrant giving him more than 8m, with some key clauses for injuries and such.

For the Giants it's a rough situation, he's too talented to really let walk but the market will pay him more and Hakeem knows it. How many 26 year old WRs with that amount of talent hit FA? Not many, and when they do they get paid.

Hakeem is a valuable asset to the Giants, like Jordy Nelson is for the Packers. It's good to have that type of WR to go with a guy like Cruz.

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

In our offense, players come and players go, but one person who throws them the ball remains. So while I'd like to keep Nicks, if he goes, then I am very confident the next WR can be developed with Eli helping him out, and we will be fine.

Shockey, Boss, Ballard, M. Bennett, Burress, Steve Smith, Mario M., have all come and gone, and Eli makes the others around him better. I'd like to keep Nicks who is a young WR. However, if he were to leave, then let's see how R.R. does this season. R.R. at X, Murphy perhaps at Z along with Cruz at Z and the slot. We can always hit the draft for another WR too.

I think Randle is gonna produce around 600-700 yards this year alone even with both guys healthy. He was physically good enough to come in and put up numbers last year but between Coughlin not playing rookies and the complicated system it was expected. It's not the typical system that'll let big, athletic WR's come in and just go up and get the ball and use their talents. But what happened the very first time he got an opportunity to? He had two TD's in the first quarter.

I expect a big jump out of him this year, so even if Nicks stays healthy I don't think it's very smart to pay two WR's that kind of money when you have a willing replacement. Somebody will give up a 1st rounder on him + the contract if Nicks can stay healthy, if it's another year like last year he's probably gonna just walk.

Possibly the best catch I've ever seen. At that moment, I fell in love.

My favorite part of that play (besides the catch) is how all the west virginia players are trying to kill him, and he still doesn't go down and then he kind of just falls down on his own at the end.

He has impressed so far during OTAs and such. So I am hoping he can take that next step. He flashed more and more as the season went on. I hope we can utilize him more this season. I think Nicks, Cruz, R.R. and Murphy can be a good 4 WR group. I am also interested in seeing how Myers and Robinson do.
