You lost. Your fan base was intensely frustrated.

In the end, not bad enough to get a high pick and not good enough to win the Championship. Mediocrity is the worst position to be in in the NBA.

Orlando fans were pretty dang happy at the end of the season. I'll tell you that.

Your gambles are amongst the worst in the NBA year in and year out. You trade or sign guys for contracts that are long term crippling. Bargnani is the poster child for this. I really thought Alan Houston and Juwan Howard would've taught you guys a lesson, but nope. Still the same old Knicks coming up short year after year. I'm a sucker for cheering for those heartbreakers though. I like pulling for you in the playoffs.

I fixed the picks for you. No one cares about second rounders.

We are playing this year and next year with a core of Melo, Chandler, Felton, and possibly Amare. And Shumpert.

This year, at worst, we'll be a low playoff seed in the East. That means the Nuggets will get a pick in the late teens or 20s in 2014.

In the 2014 season, we'll go with that same core and likely make the playoffs again. Chandler/Melo are a formidable top 2.

After that, we have just FOUR guys under contract for a good 2015 class. A whopping 14 mil invested. We'll be able to afford Melo, another max contract, and possibly a third big contract - maybe Chandler (I'm not great with the cap but just look at the math from now... Amare's 23 and Bargs' 12 are completely gone).

Plus we'll have our first round pick for 2015.

Then in the 2015 season we'll trot out something like this:

PG: Kyrie
SG: Shumpert
SF: ????
PF: Melo
C: Chandler
6: JR Smith
7: Draft pick/Hardaway
bla
bla
bla

After we spend like crazy in 15, we'll have a good record, so the 2016 pick we traded will be in the 20s.

Basically:
2014: Good with Melo, Chandler
2015: Good with Melo, Chandler
2016: Dumbass 23 on Amare/12 mil on Bargs comes off the books and we can spend like crazy + re-sign Melo.

The Knicks losing picks isn't going to hurt them. They are going to build with free agents, and in 2015 they'll re-stock.

I could see 2015 being rough, but wouldn't ya know that's the year we have our first round pick!

Player option... He's only guaranteed to be a Knick for the 2013-2014 season. After that it's one year of player option and then UFA.

He could easily opt out for a chance to team up with Lebron. :P

I highly doubt he'll leave 23 mil, more than anyone else can pay him, to leave the place he loves. Even if he does opt out to test free agency, he'll end up back in NY.

I'm not trying to be mean or anything... but that sounds like the golden plan for mediocrity. I don't see Championship sights set on course.

If you want to win it all, I think you need to trade Melo. Require picks and dump bad contracts.

Step 1: Melo/Chandler/Bargnani to DAL for Marion/Carter/Larkin/Ledo/2 Future 1st rounders

Dallas has the cap room to absorb those deals in a trade. They can give Dirk one last hurrah and form a super team around Monta, Melo, Dirk, Chandler. Very Cuban like deal.

New York dumps 2 of their worst contracts. Acquires the expiring contracts of Marion and Carter. Gets 2 promising prospects and restocks their draft picks.

Step 2: Shumpert/Felton to HOU for Asik

Asik isn't a happy camper with Dwight in town, but HOU won't just give him up for nothing. This is as good a package as they can get.

Step 3: Amnesty Stoudemire

Just unloaded your 4 biggest contracts and have a boatload of money to spend in the Summer of 2014.

Step 4: Melo exercises Player Option (returns to NY)

Step 5: Lebron joins Carmelo.

PG Shane Larkin
SG Ricky Ledo
SF Lebron James
PF Carmelo Anthony
C Omer Asik

Championshipzzzz.

Not ever happening, but was fun to think about it.

If you want to argue mediocrity for the next two years, that's valid.

But in 2015 they'll have loads of cap space to sign the best free agents. I do think NY is a great selling point especially with Melo there (I believe he'll re-sign and attract at least one other good-to-great, pipe-dream-but-not-really-LeBron player).

So no. I don't think 2015 will be medicority. You can't say that with any certainty. Too much will happen from now until then and they will absolutely be an attractive landing spot for 2-3 free agents, possibly big-time guys.

And we can't amnesty Amare.

And I'd love Larkin. Dallas is signing a million PGs the least they could do is give the kid a shot here...

If we had the amnesty, it would've been used on Stat last summer.

i would definitely help you/participate. i think, depending on the no. of participants, we should restrict the draft pool in some way. if we have 8 people drafting then everyone's team is going to be loaded. for example we can only take 2 max level players or some ****.

also have we talked about the mike miller amnesty yet? last time i was on the forum we were 3 pages back

Must have been another example of them getting an old guy who they thought could find his glory days.

Mike Miller hurt himself shooting a 3 pointer in the finals. C'mon man.

Absolutely, I think we've had a draft or two with just a straight up salary cap and that was pretty fun. Doesn't really matter to me, very open to suggestions.

He was part of the Melo trade. He was only amnestied because we wanted to sign Ty.
