This. Then this after that.

As a Browns fan, I am cautiously optimistic for 7-9 wins. If Weeden comes out and plays like a first round pick, I think that 9 wins is very possible. If he comes out and plays like last year, then we are looking at 5-6 wins again.

I don't think Weeden is the Brown's problem. If he's bad, then he has to be replaced just like any young QB. If he's good, then the problem is 5-7 years from now when he'll likely be looking at retirement due to age.

This year, the Brown's problem is that they have arguably the weakest roster in their division. Even if they manage to pull a few upsets on their own division, they still have to face high scoring offenses like the Pats, Packers and Lions from outside the division.

They're don't feel quit ready to make the jump, but I hope I'm wrong because I'm tired of the Ravens and Steelers stomping on this division every year.

Meh, the talent on the Browns roster is pretty comparable to that of the Steelers and Bengals albeit much younger. If Big Ben isn't playing due to injury (which seems like half the time) then the Browns >>>> Steelers, but the problem is how much better QB play the other AFC North teams have been getting and the fact that all their good players are veterans. If Weeden looks like Derek Anderson did the first half of the 2007 season then the Browns are a formidable team with all that good young talent they have acquired over the past few years. Great offensive line, great front seven, pretty good young WRs/RBs, the secondary might be a question but the pass rush and Joe Haden/TJ Ward are gonna be good.

I guess I agree with you, but I still think the Browns are 4th in overall talent right now. An injury or two on any of the other 3 teams could bounce the Browns up, but that's a future "if" scenario that also requires the Browns to not have any key injuries.

I don't think the Browns are super far behind or anything. They've made some good moves to build their roster over the last few years, that's for sure.

The offensive line isn't great; the run blocking is putrid. TJ Ward being good is a straight myth, and the secondary as a whole outside of Haden is beyond pathetic. If they didn't have decent looking rusher's on paper I think they'd look like they could surrender the most passing yards in NFL history.

Weeden's ceiling is probably mediocrity and this looks like a fringe playoff team to some of you? Turner and Horton are the only reason I think this team can avoid going 4-12 and ending up in the Bridgewater brigade.

And how in the **** can we be better than the Steelers? They have been kicking the living **** out of us for the past 13 years. When we beat them with Ben, I'll believe it.

I think people are overrating the Browns talent. Their safeties are awful, they have no #1 WR that scares defenses, no TE, Crappy Guards, Outside of Haden their Corners leave much to desire, and their depth is pretty crappy. Plus on top of that will Richardson be able to stay healthy and will Weeden step up and how will the team deal with Josh Gordon suspension. They are the 4th in talent in the AFC North and middle of pack in the AFC. They also have a very tough schedule this year.

Fisher ran a basic D with no press coverage. The Rams usually bring major heat (lead NFL in sacks) but didn't bring any heat this game. I wouldn't ream much into this game. TE Cook didn't play and Austin only had one pass his way. Fisher isn't going to show anything in pre season

I think you are underrating the talent to an extent though too. All it takes is for good QB play and we are suddenly a few wins better. Also, Gordon was without a doubt, the best rookie receiver last year. I know it was one year but he definitely showed he can be a #1. I don't disagree with your assessment of TE, G, CB, and depth. I really do think we are more talented than the Steelers, but barely. Their biggest issue is that their two best players are often injured. With Ben they are a better team, but that isn't always the case.
