I don't think he said that he didn't test positive for marijuana. I believe he only said that marijuana is "absolutely not" a part of his life. That's a subtle distinction, but it allows him to be honest and still (apparently) lead people think that he's not a stoner.

Well some word out now is that Miller didn't test positive for anything, could be he missed a test. But Bronco folk are apparently optimistic the suspension will be overturned.

If he really didn't test positive, I hope he gets it reduced to a 1 game suspension.

So... a missed test? Missed test doesn't put you in Stage II of the NFL's substance abuse program.

So we're to assume he "missed a test" in 2011 and then "missed a test" in 2013 which gets him suspended?

Then he's just as stupid for missing tests.

Division is pretty bad so definitely, but it will be classic Indy Peyton this year with no defense.

Yeah they will still take the division and looking at their first 6 games the worst I see them going is 3-3. Should have gimme wins against Oak, Phi and Jax. After that they will have tough games against NE, Was and Hou and I think they may split with KC but worst case scenario for Denver this year is prob 10-6 which should still win the division by 2+ games.

The problem then becomes if Denver has to play a wildcard game, then divison and AFCCG. There were many who thought Manning's arm got weaker the later in the year last year and if he needs to throw more to start the year to compensate for a D that will be missing Doom and possibly Von and Champ then I think it's not out of the realms of possibility his arm could get worse after another long year, not to mention he could end up needing to play teams like Baltimore, NE and Houston in the playoffs just to get to the Superbowl

Why was it brought up to 6 games? Thats just weird.

Also, Denver's defense will still be a solid group without Miller. They were #2 last year, added some guys, lost some guys, they'll hold up and have an explosive offense.

Don't believe for a second that Cromartie is solid. The combo loss of Dumervil and Miller (6games) will be felt pretty good by their DBs.

I love how all the talk is about how this knocks Denver down a bit as a Super Bowl contender. The Broncos are going to do cartwheels into the playoffs with or without Miller. And in the playoffs, Miller will play. Could is cause them to lose home field advantage? Possibly. But Denver weather in January isn't exactly conducive to what Manning likes to do. Playing in Houston, Indianapolis, or even Baltimore would be better. This suspension has almost now effect on Denver's Super Bowl hopes.

I think this hurts them because it mostly hurts their home field/bye chances. Manning has made the playoffs with much worse teams. Denver's floor is 10 wins and winning the west in my eyes. Chiefs are better but I don't see them on the same level. The playoffs are going to be tough for them, but I still think Peyton walks through the regular season.

lol at classic njx, 9-7 and missing the playoffs.

Broncos first 6 games Von will miss:
Ravens
@Giants
Raiders
Eagles
@Cowboys
Jaguars

At worst, WORST, they lose 3 games. They have 3 of the easiest games on their schedule during Von's suspension, and the offense is stacked and defense is still going to be decent enough I think even without Von.
I think they probably go 4-2, and end up overall at 12-4. Where that plays in home field, who knows but it didn't do them much good last year.

Not if Mick Vick goes all MIKE VICK and Blaine Gabbert goes all BL....yeah you're right -they got 3 auto wins.

Peyton has been on worse teams and still managed to get his teams to at least 10 wins. There have only been a couple of times when his team didn't have a winning record. His rookie year and in 2001 when he had a bad season himself. But that was a long time ago. The Broncos don't play in a powerhouse division and two teams have two new head coaches. It's not like Miller is gone the entire year anyways. Maybe the defense suffers a little bit, but the offense will be good enough to get the Broncos to the playoffs.

If Peyton Manning can get the 2010 Colts to 10 wins, then he can get the 2013 Broncos to 10 wins. It's not like the AFC is stacked either. At the very least they should take a wildcard spot.

People here are putting too much faith in Manning. They're hurt throughout their roster and their defense would've been a step back from last year even without Miller. They're now going into their first 6 games without either Miller or Elvis Dumervil. Those two combined for 29.5 sacks last year. You better believe a big part of Denver's success was having two All-Pro caliber pass rushers pinching both sides of opponents' quarterbacks. They have no one to replace that. Shaun Philips is going to be mediocre if he has a good year. And with a thin pass rush their secondary becomes even more important, and Champ Bailey and DRC are both injured. The Raiders and Jags are the only games that truly look like "gimme" wins in their first 6 games and it wouldn't be anything close to inconceivable, to me, for Von Miller to join a team that's 2-4 after 6 weeks. Anything can happen, but this isn't a strong team overall; they just have Peyton and his track record leads you to expect a strong offense. But they're injured on the offensive line, too, and have very little at running back. Peyton should be able to at least keep them in games, but there are plenty of other sub-caliber players who can lose them for Denver. They're missing a lot of talent from last year's squad, considering injuries as well.

Playing in Houston, Indianapolis, or even Baltimore would be better. This suspension has almost now effect on Denver's Super Bowl hopes.
This is exactly the sort of thinking around that team that I just can't even fathom how people got to this offseason. The Broncos are a good team but good lord they arent THAT good. A slew of injuries, Miller's pending suspension, no run game, the LB's are susceptible to getting beat in the passing game (at least when we played them). I just don't get the Bronco love thats over taken people (everywhere) this off season. They were a very deceiving #1 seed last year imo.

Caulibflower summed it up pretty well. It blows my mind people think the Eagles and Cowboys are give me wins. They arent elite but those aren't teams you sleep on either.

Yes, a big part of the success was Miller being a disruptive force. However, the real key was playing mistake free football, scoring drives on offense and stopping the run on defense.
Subbing in for Miller is Shaun Phillips who has had a pretty solid camp and preseason. What sucks is the injury to Derek Wolfe, if he can be back for the regular season the defensive line should be able to hold up well.
They have some solid players on defense to hold up, plus a very good coach in Del Rio scheming things up.
Nearly everybody is expected healthy by opening game. The OL will be solid, RB will be fine, TE and WR will be fine.

Excuse me if I think a team that is coming off a 4-12 season, playing on the road to a team that is 13-3 and many expected to be Super Bowl contenders, will be a gimme win. The Eagles have done nothing to change my mind on that.
And they aren't elite? The Broncos are loaded on offense, have a great return man, good kicker/punter and a decent enough defense that will become better when Miller returns.
They were basically a fluke hail mary TD completion away from beating the Ravens last year. I think its ridiculous to say they aren't elite.
