Gray was claimed to the Browns 53-man roster. I was excited about his potential, and it sucks to see him go. They even tried to hide him in the final preseason game...

And we just lost Marcus Cooper to the Chiefs

Kansas City claimed #49ers CB Marcus Cooper off of waivers. he's on the Chiefs 53-man squad. #49ersmidwest

Yup. Gray was looking like a good prospect. Sucks he didn't make the final roster.

Just like Darryl Morris, Cooper, Bykowski and all these other rookies you guys seemed to have a affinity for. You can always see where guys stand by what group they play with. If your making plays all pre-season, yet your still coming into the game with the 4th stringers the entire pre-season, then the writing is on the wall. I don't think Baldwin deserves to be on the 53 either, but not because Jacobs is this great talent we had to keep.

And what has Grey done at all this pre-season? Absolutely nothing. And I do mean nothing. Celek was always ahead of him on the depth chart. Gray was never really a threat. Another guy who was destined to be PS bound.

And it other news, Packers sign Tolizen. Interesting development, though not really. Not sure if they're seriously going to keep him or they want to pick his brain. Coleman does suck though so maybe he sticks around.
Well then by that logic BJ Daniels shouldn't have made the final roster. He was a 7th round rookie draft pick and only played against 4th stringers and tossed a few touchdowns in the fourth quarter. And that is the only time he saw playing action. Yet he's on the final 53. As for Hawkins not making it, it's arguable that his penchant for penalties got him the axe.

Not really. He was the 3rd QB on the field for a team that kept 3 QBs.

Chuck Jacobs was the 8th WR on the field for a team that kept 5 WRs.

But we had two other quarterbacks in the mix. We had four try out for the team to make a total of five including the starter. Three being the final number fo the roster. Two who were more experienced than Daniels participated. Yet Daniels still made the roster.

I don't know what argument you're trying to make.

Seneca Wallace was never "in the mix" and Scott Tolzien was done after week 2. BJ Daniels was obviously QB3.

Chuck Jacobs was never one of the first 5 WRs on the field. He never was. And Chad Hall, LaVelle Hawkins, and Austin Collie were on the field before him the final game.

I'm super stoked he made the PS. But I don't know how it seemed clear he should make the 53. Hawkins had a much larger argument.

RT @adamschefter: Six teams -- CLEV, HOU, GB, DAL, NO, BALT -- put in waiver claims for former 49ers RB MarQueis Gray, who was awarded to the Browns.

What did Hawkins do as a receiver that was clearly better than Jacobs? Return a kickoff for a touchdown? Get a fluke touchdown? Maybe he threw a better block on a given snap? Yeah he was on the field earlier, but that could have easily been because of the "veteran" treatment. Jacobs was a free agent rookie signing. San Francisco wasn't obligated to even give him a chance. Fact of the matter is though that when he was on the field he made plays. He deserved more of an opportunity despite how he was acquired. Just like the 49ers were obligated to get AJ Jenkins on the field because he was a first round pick even though he sucked. Teams do this all the time. If you are a rookie free agent, the odds are already stacked against you just to get a shot even if you're blowing everyone away in practice. It took Victor Cruz like two years in the preseason to get a shot with the Giants even though he was obviously better than maybe one receiver on the roster.

Jacobs is on the team. Debate over. He's going to see the same amount of playing time as he would on the 53 man.

Except that Daniels wasn't necessarily drafted to play QB. He was drafted as a jack of all trades kind of offensive threat. Yet, he showed enough to make Tolizen expendable and earned the #3 QB role. so we actually haven't signed owen marecic, we just worked him out yesterday.

if we haven't signed him more than 24 hours after a workout (i imagine any contract would be easy to negotiate and both harbaugh+marecic would jump at the chance to work together again) is it safe to say he probably won't be signed by us for a while, unless one of dixon/miller/tuakufu (jumbo blocker) get injured or cut, etc etc.

oh, and trenton robinson was signed to the Eagles PS. coaches deemed him not worthy of a spot on our own ps....

Unfortunately, no. Just busy with life and stuff. May do one occasionally. It's open if anyone else wants to do 'em.

And I understand where your coming from Borat. But a gameday thread just ain't a gameday thread without that Borat touch. Its all good tho....

Perhaps I'll be up to the task. I don't think I'm going to do a photo montage though. Just a general thread. I ain't got your skillz.
