We are awful, what's FSU's excuse?
West Virginia was too cowardly to keep FSU on the schedule so they could play world beaters like James Madison and Maryland as opposed to FSU on the road.

Gilbert was the #2 ranked Pro Style QB (behind Matty Barkley) and a consensus 5* QB who broke a ton of Texas HS records while playing in Austin. Had Brown not taken him he'd have been lynched.

You know Bama fans are wondering how Saban couldn't get Winston to switch over to the Tide...

They were booing him at high school games because he was committed to FSU his whole senior season.

Home and home with Oklahoma in 2010-11.

Scheduled home and home with West Virginia they backed out of in 2012-13.

"Neutral site" game with Oklahoma State in Dallas to start 2014.

There was also a home and home series scheduled with Texas A&M at one point that fell off the boards due to scheduling concerns for both teams.

Along with all that FSU plays a road game at Florida every other year and has upcoming quasi-OOC games with Notre Dame.

There is no reason virtually every B1G team plays as pathetic of an OOC schedule as they do. Then again FSU is still waiting on return trips from Michigan and Ohio State from the B1G.

Why would a QB like Winston ever want to play for such a conservative offense like Alabama runs though? As great as he will be, Alabama would never have come close to even scratching the surface of his capabilities as a QB.

Agreed but you know that it killed them watching that performance last nite.

With their late offer to Coker before signing day, I'm sure they will be first in line if he transfers.

I said it last night I think, Jacob Coker will very likely be Alabama's starting QB in 2014. Funny how that worked out, in the 2011 Class, Jimbo really, really wanted Nick Marshall (who would commit to UGA as a DB) as his QB. Then Coker came in during summer camp and blew everyone away earning an offer. His HS offense didn't do many favors for showcasing his skill set (Wing T). That year Nick Saban took Phillip Ely early to help with James Wilder Jr's recruitment and well we saw how that panned out. In 2011, FSU started worrying Coker would flip to Alabama and made a late run at Jacoby Brissett then backed off when Daymeune Craig told Fisher that he had Winston locked up to come to FSU.

Since then....
Ely transfers from Alabama.
JWJ attends FSU
Nick Marshall goes to UGA, gets kicked out, ends at up Auburn.
Jacob Coker and Jameis Winston end up at FSU, although it's now likely Coker is gone after this season.
DayDay Craig goes to Auburn to be the co-OC and gets Nick Marshall.

All in all it seems Auburn was the biggest loser in not really being a player for either Coker or Winston.

The Big Ten plays more BCS teams than any other conference and fewer FCS teams than any other conference. On the other hand the ACC plays more FCS teams than any other conference and only the Big XII plays fewer BCS teams.

Tough to gauge how Georgia's loss will affect them. If this were a Saban coached team, I'd be scared shitless, but given it's a Richt team, losing such a close rivalry game could very well dishearten the team.

Matchup wise I think we're the superior team. We know how young and mistake prone their defense is. Connor Shaw doesn't play as well during away games (although Thompson certainly does), but our offensive line should win the battles and the running game will take pressure off. Clowney always dominates in the big game and we all know how scared Aaron Murray can get, plus the rest of our defense is pretty damn good. Limiting Todd Gurley has to be our primary concern.

Overall, we just need to come out and play our A game, and hope that Georgia isn't extremely motivated, and we should come out with a win. It won't be 35-7 again, but I can see a wider margin of victory than in their bout with Clemson.

Neither of them is on par with Winston as a prospect and neither of them grew up within spitting distance of the campus.

I agree, if Coker wants to play I can't see him going to Alabama. They have Bateman too in addition to Cornwell in 2014 and Town in 2015. I think Bateman gets a chance to start next year as a RS freshman. With the young depth at QB it's hard for me to see Coker going to Bama.

I could see Coker transferring to Ole Miss or Tennessee, those are two schools he liked a lot coming out of high school.

I hate them, although I've found myself disliking pretty much all Florida alternatives. With the colors and that logo, it just doesn't work. Except for these;

Those were beautiful.

Yeah, those are pretty bad. They are nearly identical to ones UCF will be wearing at some point this season. But at least black is a color of UCF. And are the jerseys different too or are they wearing those helmets with the regular blue and orange jersey. If so, it's even worse.

Oh and I'll be building my Winston and Telvin Smith shrines this weekend since we're off.
Miami and Florida is at 0900 hrs here on the west coast so don't complain. Barely have enough time to grab a latte and a scone.

How long till Mack Brown is let go? Apparently he didn't want Winston..
I can't stand Mack. I can't wait until they get rid of him. He's a great political guy. Huge with big donors and legislators and school admins.

Very good with recruiting.

Pretty terrible coach and talent evaluator.
