Not only that, but Brown consistently looks like the better player. Trent needs some serious work. Maybe he just needs glasses?

I just don't really see it. Even in 3 WR sets he doesn't look explosive. He just runs forward and falls forward for 3 yards. It is maddening. Wish we had Gio on our team.

Would anyone be surprised if Donald Brown was the starter coming out of the bye? It might still be a split overall in terms of workload, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I pretty much have my answer to this Trent Richardson thing. I will eat crow for jumping on the Browns initially, I was wrong and they were right. But at the time, I was willing to give Trent a pass for his rookie year for his low ypc due to the rib injuries which has to suck. But after seeing him miss some gaping hopes, and admittedly not being able to watch Cleveland play much, it changed my mind.

I don't even see a few plays sprinkled in, like David Wilson will sometimes do to make you think a guy is special. Gio has made a few plays like that this year already even in games he didn't produce. Trent looks like just another guy, and if you weren't a huge football fan you would think Khiry Robinson is a better RB then he is. It's only because we know what he did at Alabama, the combines, where he was picked that makes you except and anticipate more.

I just haven't seen it at all, and he isn't even a Rudi Johnson average type of RB, he's worse. It's a huge red flag for me that a guy as big, fast, and strong as he is doesn't break more long runs then he does. I think it's been since week 8 of last year since he had a rush of over 20 yards, that's pretty pathetic.

The problem with Donald Brown is he can't carry the load. He is a change of pace back and that fits him best. He is best coming off the bench like Rhodes was.

This is pretty much ditto for me. He wasn't impressive at all against the Seahawks. I definitely preferred them to hand it to him than for Luck to have it, and our secondary is the better part of our defense. But I feel like I might have a little more to add; some things I thought in the past.

In the predraft process with him, I was pretty against those who were hyping him as a top-10 pick. I thought Mark Ingram had been a better prospect because his game was much more efficient and I thought if he went to a team that wanted to run the ball over and over again he was going to be a good player for them. (didn't think the Saints were a good fit.)

But I definitely thought Trent Richardson was the better athlete of the two, and thought he had much more explosiveness, like from an SPARQ standpoint; if his mind was right, he had more physical potential. But I thought he didn't follow his blocks well and tried to make too many moves. I felt like he was deficient in the mental aspects of being a running back and that he didn't run to the right places, but could get away with it in college due to his extreme athletic ability and strength. He looked like a player who was going to have to be coached a lot.

So when he came into the NFL and was an inefficient player, I wasn't surprised. I also wasn't surprised that he still racked up a lot of yards and touchdowns, even on a bad team. He's athletic enough that he's still going to get some yards and can be depended on to do so; he's just leaving a ton of easy ones on the field. And that's what we're still seeing this season, and it doesn't make me think, "He sucks, he's a bust"; it makes me think, "He hasn't got it yet." It's definitely true - he definitely misses holes and hasn't made long gains. But it can still just take awhile with some players. He's not good yet, but he still can be. He still has that high potential. He was a pretty young prospect; he's still only 22. I'm just not ready to write him off yet. I wasn't ready to call him a slam dunk before he was drafted, and now I'm not willing to call him a bust. It's too soon.

I am not sure what to make of Richardson's struggles. He seems to lack explosion which is fixable. If he is hurting or even a little heavy then he can work on explosion in the offseason. If it is down to poor vision then that is harder to rectify.

This is the problem with some of the recent Bama RBs. They had the premier offensive line in college and guys like Ingram, Richardson, Lacy and now Yeldon have shown an ability to dominate. But they didn't face the challenges NFL RBs face.

Interesting analysis on Richardson's time with the Colts so far: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1...with-the-colts

Look at the second video, his run. Also look at how he runs into a wall of his blockers and defenders when he could easily cut left for at least 5 yards if not a much bigger gain if the blocks hold up.

That pretty much sums his problem up.

Looking at Lacy run tonight he looks like the top 3 pick and Richardson looks like the second rounder.

I really think Richardson is pressing now. Kind of what CJ2K has become. He's thinking and not running. I fully think it's going to take a off season to fix this problem.

Also after the trade went down. Some words out of the Browns camp were that Richardson had some " growing up to do ". Could be that he was thinking it was going to come easy to him like at Bama. Well after this year maybe he'll work his tail off to get better.

The biggest indication that he lacks vision is that when he's a receiver and catches the ball in space he actually looks quite good. He can make one guy miss, or bulldoze through them, and because it's just one or two guys and the open field he can manage there. When he has to dodge a guy but also fit through a small hole with a huge line around him...no good.

Since being traded to the Colts, Trent has averaged 2.92 yards per carry. That is the worst mark in franchise history (minimum 150 rushing attempts).

The man made history.

Addin' dimensionzZz to da offense doe!

You bumped a 2-months-dead thread just to say the Richardson trade was a bad move? Congrats I guess.
