I didn't think it was amazing or anything, but without having read the book I found it interesting if only for most of the topics it got into. I'm curious to pick up the book after having seen it.

I got to meet Stephen Henderson on set today. Over lunch he ended up just lecturing us kids about the art form, and I literally could've listened to him talk for hours, we totally didn't get back to shooting until like 30-40 minutes after we were supposed, but even the director didn't want to get back to shooting as long as we could him talking. What an awesome day. :-)

I read an article that was about Jordan Belfort, the guy who Wolf of Wall Street is based on, and apparently the guy had so much money at one point he was in London and was suffering from withdrawal because he didn't have his Quaaludes so he called his secretary and had the Quaaludes put on a Concorde Jet and sent to London. Apparently he also paid a woman 5,000 dollars to shave her head in exchange for a boob job.

Here's some other crazy stuff he did from the article.
Quote:
As a 31-year-old multimillionaire stockbroker, Belfort once landed his helicopter on his back lawn, flying with just one eye open because he was so stoned he had double vision. He sank his 167ft motor yacht, complete with seaplane and helicopter, after overruling the captain and taking it into a Mediterranean storm.
He organised a midget-throwing contest to entertain brokers on his trading floor.

I've heard it was one of those "book readers will hate it, others will like it" things. I haven't seen it yet though.

Usually when book readers hate the movie it's because the book was so well written and film loses that bredth and language. Ender's game shouldn't have that problem.

I saw the documentary Salinger last night, I found it very interesting. It's two hours long, but it's a very informative documentary and it doesn't feel like it drags on. Salinger was a really fascinating individual. The documentary details his life and his formative years and the part that I found really interesting was the relationship he had with his characters. I can't think of an artist or author who had such a personal relationship with the stories he wrote. His relationship with women was also very unusual and I would say pretty creepy. He had a fascination with younger women his entire life and they detail that in the documentary.

He hasn't had anything published since 1965 but he wrote daily like it was his job until his death and they're releasing some of those in the future between 2015 and 2020. The WWII experience of Salinger is also detailed in the film and that is really interesting too, because without that experience a lot of people say that Salinger doesn't go onto become who he was.

I've heard it is a good movie, just nothing like the book. Kind of like Children of Men (great movie, great book, they aren't the same story)

Saw The Counselor last night and I really enjoyed it. God it was weird. Fassbender once again delivers and I thought Pitt and Bardem were amazing. Not really a fan of Diaz at all. Her character was incredibly off putting which was likely the point but I couldn't help but feel like if someone more talented had played her part it would have worked quite a bit better. The film looked beautiful and the script by McCarthy was clearly a great one. I look forward to watching it again.

With all due respect to Godzilla, this is probably my most anticipated movie for next year. The Raid redefined how action movies should be shot in the 21st century. I can't not wait for this sequel. Evans recently said on Twitter there are 17 different action sequences, totaling over an 1 hour of screentime. My body is ready.

12 Years a Slave was one of the most difficult films I've ever watched. There are some aspects of the depiction of slavery that are truly disturbing. Which is the film's intention and it's gets that point across better than anything else I've ever seen regarding the issue. It's very well made and I have to say Michael Fassbender and Chiwetel Ejiofor deserve the highest praise for their performances. The acting is just solid all around from the entire cast. There are a couple of prominent actors that are barely in the movie, but make a huge impact. Definitely worth seeing.

Oh and Thor 2 was also cool. The first post credits scene (there are two) seems to confirm what direction they'll be going in. Might not be until an Avengers 3 though.

Ender's Game was VERY rushed. They hit on pretty much all the major points but they should have slowed it down and made it 15-30 minutes longer. There were multiple parts that I think people who didn't read the book wouldn't have understood. It was enjoyable, sure, but it was still a disappointment as someone who read the books.

Everything surrounding Bonzo was pretty disappointing, starting with his appearance.

I said this in March and I hated Ender's Game even knowing this because the premise of the movie seemed intresting. Though I didn't even read the book.

I really liked Moneyball and that is coming from someone that hates baseball.

I thought Perks was alright but nothing special.

Perks was meh. I thought they did a terrible job foreshadowing some underlying problems and then just sort of threw it all out there in the final ten minutes.
