Can we get a refund on the richardson trade? I'd gladly give him back for a 2nd rounder maybe even a 3rd. Donald Brown has been the superior player since we acquired him. We have really outplayed our talent level again this year. We rely so much on luck and our QB.

EDIT: The teams we have lost to are a combined 12-15. Not sure what to make of this.

That Jets game from last year? Even the game against the Chargers a few weeks ago was disgusting.

Ouch that was painful, oh well hopefully they get some good lessons from it and don't do anything like that for a long while.

That one hurts... At least the only AFC South team to win was Jacksonville. That is a first. We still have the division handed to us, however I'm not sure we can do much in the playoffs. I didn't see the game. Where did we play poorly? Every level?

I watched, and it just looked like Tavon Austin had too much speed for the Colts to handle defensively. Offensively, Luck was off but the Rams defensive line just physically whipped the Colts offensive line, from what I saw.

Pretty big game next week.

We either put the division away or let Titans back in it.

I was so excited when this trade went down. Now it's pretty clear why the Browns shipped him out. He plays the game like Ray Charles.

WTF...he could end up with double digit sacks. Probably helps when you have dareus, kyle williams and super mario around you.

I never saw anything to be excited about at the price we paid.

Luck runs the go ahead score to put the Colts up 20-17 after being down 14-0 in the 1st quarter.

Colts survive a late TD from the Titans and win 30-27. Brown ran awesome in the 4th quarter and T-Rich still stumbles on runs not exploding taking yards when he has them. Fleener has his 1st career 100 yard game on 8 catches. We're 3 games ahead of Tennessee now.

I'm glad we won but this team is going nowhere in the playoffs if the coaches don't stop doing the same dumb things every game. Really unimpressed with the lacking discipline on defense, and yet again Satele and McGlynn let Luck get hit or pressured way too much.

So what are the Colts top needs? OL? More defense?

OG - A starter is needed

WR - WR2 to replace DHB and ultimately take the WR1 spot

C - Satele is clearly the worst player on the OL so a starter here despite McGlynn's ability to play here.

Rush OLB - Werner doesn't impress me. Hopefully it is because he is a project. We need someone else rushing the QB as Mathis is getting older.

DE - Would be nice to get someone out of the draft for this spot. Redding has played well, but Manusky needs somebody for his defense.

S - Bethea has had a sub-par season and Landry has been alright. We need someone here.

CB - Toler still gets injured. Davis is awesome despite these last few games. Butler is a fine nickel, but we need someone in case Toler goes down. We can't turn to Vaughn.

ILB - Angerer gets lost in coverage and he doesn't impress me even in Run D. This defense isn't the best for him. I still don't understand why Conner doesn't get snaps, but we will need someone here.

It is in that order in my opinion.

CB: Vontae Davis is a free agent and should be the teams priority one this offseason. Even accounting for how poor he was against St Louis and Houston (personally giving the way he was running I felt he was playing with an injured hamstring) he has been one of the best cover corners in the league this year. Greg Toler has been poor but his absence has actually showed how bad it can be when he isn't there as Cassius Vaughn has been repeatedly raped by opposing offenses. The team needs to find a dominant number #2 cornerback to pair with Davis. With Davis at #1, an upgrade at #2 and Butler at Nickle the Colts could have one of the best Cornerback groups in the NFL.

WR: Reggie will be 35 and coming off a torn ACL. With his age and the nature of that injury he may not be ready to play Week 1. And even if he is will he still be the same Reggie Wayne. DHB is a joke and neither Whalen or Brazill have shown anything remotley worth talking about. Frankly the only WR the Colts have worth talking about moving forward is T.Y. Hilton. This could really be a situation where the Colts need two players, not just one.

ILB: Jerrell Freeman is having a pro bowl calibre year (and other people other than Colts fans are noticing it to). There are few 3-Down LBs in the League better than him. Beside him however is another story. Kelvin Sheppard is terrible, Pat Angerer is a free agent and has been terribly inconsistent (and a liability in coverage) while I imagine giving his playing time that Kavell Conner ****** either Chuck Pagano's wife or daughter. He is also a free agent. Not only will a long term starter (preferably a 3-Down guy similar to Freeman) be needed but there will also be a need to provide sufficient depth.

S: Antoine Bethea has given a lot to the team in his 8 years in Indy. However that time should come to an end this offseason. Bethea simply hasn't played as a top calibre safety in a number of years now and has been simply awful the last number of games (getting lost in coverage, not being much of a factor in the run game). The Colts this year have operated a Left/Right split with the Safeties as opposed to a Strong/Free split. This gives the team a bit of freedom when it comes to replacing Bethea. If they sign another hybrid then the team can continue with the Left/Right split. If they sign a SS then Landry can go to FS and if they sign a FS then Landry can go to SS. Any of those options work.

C: Samson Satele is a combination of *****, and overpaid. He is overpaid *****. The Colts would save $4.2M in cap next year by cutting him. Khaled Holmes has never got a chance to show what he can do which says more than it does on face value. Holmes clearly hasn't shown enough in training to justify replacing Satele (or in most cases even making the game day roster).

OG: Mike McGlynn is a free agent (and thank Holy Christ for that). Hugh Thornton has shown glimpses of good play but they tend to be preceeded and followed by about five glimpses of terrible play. Donald Thomas looked good before getting injured but it remains to be seen whether or not Thomas-Upgraded Center-Thornton will be good enough on the in long run. If the team think Thornton can be the long term starter the team still need to find depth positions here as McGlynn, Reitz and Linkenbach are all free agents (and not very good).

ST: McAfee is a free agent and should be given a long term deal. Adam Vinatieri is playing well this season but will be 41 before the playoffs start this season. The team will need to find a long term replacement for him.

RB: The Colts three running backs going into next season are a player come off a torn ACL, a guy with 5 career rushing yards and Trent Richardson. While I feel Richardson can get better (most of his problems are in his head) there is still a major issue there if that is all the Colts have. Brown could be resigned (especially if he continues to play well but I am always worried about resigning guys who play piss poor for a couple of years but suddenly turn it on in a contract year).

OLB: The team signed Erik "Zizou" Walden to a long term, front loaded contract, while draft Björn Werner in the first round. Neither fill me with confidence but the amount the team gave to get them makes me think there is little chance they will actively seek to upgrade here. A late round project player could be brought in but this is probably the OLB settled for a few years anyway.

NT: Aubrayo Franklin has been quite good this season (albeit in a limited role), while Josh Champan has been quite good against the run (but a liability on passing downs). Even if the team feel that Champan can step in as the starter there will still be a need to find depth here.

DE: Matthews and Moala are free agents. Matthews has been poor this season but Moala has been quite good, being second only to Cory Redding as the team's best rushing lineman. While the team probably feel that Montari Hughes can step in a replace Matthews there will still be a need to either resign Moala or replace him with a pass rushing Lineman.

OT: Both Castonzo and Cherilus have been good this season (the lone bright spots on a poor OL) there isn't any real depth behind them. While neither have a particularly long injury history I would still like the team to bring in depth just in case.

I am legitimately beginning to wonder if Tennessee will come back and win the South. I have no confidence in our coaches, defense, OL, or receivers against the Titans.

Yeah it is sad that I shudder to think of what Kendall Wright and Fitz are going to do to us...

Completing a downfield pass on offense and defending one on defense seem like the two most impossible challenges in football for this team right now.

I knew the Cards game was going to be tough, but I didn't expect us to get demolished like that.

I'm hoping we come back strong in the next one. It's actually a huge game now.

Tennessee's schedule maybe the thing that is keeping us in pole position at the moment. We both have to play Jacksonville and Houston. Even with how bad the team is playing we should still win those games.

That would take the Colts to 9 wins. Even if Tennessee beats us and wins their two games against Jacksonville and Houston that only puts them on 8 wins. They then have to beat either Denver or Arizona and hope that we don't beat either Cincinnati or an increasingly exposed Kansas City.

In Baseball the object is to go home and be safe.

Actually, just from playing around with the Playoff Machine thing on ESPN, if the Colts beat Jacksonville and Houston then Tennessee need to win out to win the division. Colts tiebreakers are better than Tennessee so if they are both 9-7 then the Colts win.

I agree Tennessee's schedule is favorable for us, if you still view making the playoffs as a good thing. Though without a first round pick we might as well. Hopefully between now and then the coaches make some of the more obvious changes and figure out how to play four, or even just 2.5 or 3 full quarters of football.

So far this season the team have been good against the Banana skin opponents (like Jacksonville) and against the teams they need to raise their game against (Denver, Seattle etc). The first group helps us get to the playoffs, the latter group should then play in our favour in the playoffs. The games the Colts have really struggled in this season have been against the mid level opposition.

Thanks for the tip on the playoff machine. I think 10 wins locks up the #3 seed this year.
