A) Amazing this thread is still going......
B) The % of rudy cools in, say, the priesthood HAS to be higher than, say, in the NFL, where being aggressive, mean, physical is almost a pre-requisite. For players at least, not punters and placekickers.
C) I still think there's about a 25% chance that Rodgers is rudy. He would lie about it because, unlike Hollywood and much of society now here in the USA, this is not yet considered "vogue" within the NFL locker room. Like that or not, that is reality.

J-Mike don't you think it's weird that people who choose to be punters and placekickers wouldn't also choose to be rudy cool? I mean they are pretty much common interests.

Barkley summed up all this crap last year with Jason Collins coming out:

"Man, we need to outlaw guys who suck at sports. Iíd rather have a *** guy who can play than a straight guy who canít play. When I went to bed last night, I didn't care about who Jason Collins sleeps with. When I go to bed tonight, I don't care who Jason Collins sleeps with."

The end.

This. The media stirs the ****-pot just for stories. My opinion of people who stir the ****-pot is that they should be forced to lick the spoon.

I've heard this story on the news. Where and how did this originate? I thought he was spotted in Vegas with some Hot model not too long ago.

WTF, What part of society considers it "vogue" outside of the *** community itself? Even where **** are accepted, it's not the "cool" thing to do at all. You're so ignorant to everything that is happening in the world, sports... whatever.

This would be great if Aaron Rodgers is actually cool. I actually wrote a paper for my college composition class about homophobia/ homosexuality and how it affects athletics. I argued in the paper that the sporting world needs an established player who is a super-star at this level to set an example for other athletes that might be cool to come out.

The only "problem (I use this term loosely)" I see with this is this: Green Bay, and the entire midwest for that matter, is extremely conservative. How would they react to their super-star being rudy cool? Obviously, with a player like Rodgers, they are not just going to release him or trade him because the fan base doesn't like him, but how many anti-*** protests happen out side of Lambeau because of this? It is just something to think about.

I don't want anyone to think that I am against it, because I am not. I really feel as though this needs to happen for the rudy cool community in athletics to be respected as other not so cool athletes do.

I definitely would not call Wisconsin "extremely conservative". They've been a blue state in every election since Reagan in '84. Some of the rural areas are definitely conservative, but overall it's pretty split. Madison is one of the most liberal cities you'll find in the country, and of course Milwaukee is liberal as well. It's not the most ***-friendly state, but it's not particularly bad either. According to this, a majority of the state's population supports *** marriage.

Most of the midwest is pretty similar as well; I think you might have confused it with the south.

He's from Minny, right? He's probably heard so much verbal diarrhea from Michelle Bachmann that he thinks most everyone feels like that. The Midwest's kooks are a minority, but they speak loudly and often while the majority that doesn't care about who's banging who doesn't run around shouting about it.

I'm from South Dakota. Thanks.

The state of WI is more purple than anything (irony?) - with the more conservative folks in the northern part of the state (north of Appleton). I don't want to get into political beliefs and get this thread locked or anything, but I lean more moderate to liberal on the political spectrum. I live in an extremely conservative area as well.

With that being said, I grouped the entire midwest as being generally conservative. In these parts (SD, ND, MN, WI), pakcers fans, vikings fans, and then a small mix of everything else. In IA it really depends on your location.

Bottom line is that the city of Green Bay is generally conservative, as is the the rest of the mid-west.

Only if you're looking at a county map. In overall population, people leaning liberal have the conservatives beat. The cities have the people, and they're firmly in the "I don't give an eff who gets married" category.

As far as Rudy Cool support, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota all had enough public support to legalize *** marriage. Wisconsin had it too, but the politicians settled on legalized same-sex civil unions. Michigan has the public support according to the polls, but not the politicians ready to vote for it. The whole region of the country around Rodgers' workplace is pro-same sex marriage.

Except Indiana, but eff Indiana; they also have the highest state population of KKK members.

What are you even talking about? Most of the biggest states in the midwest are actually generally liberal. (Minnesota, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan for example.) The Dakotas might as well be a different region altogether.

Wisconsin is pretty moderate overall.

Vikes isn't necessarily wrong in what he's trying to say. The majority of Packers "owners" (god they're a sad bunch) are rather conservative, or at least that's what they come off as.

Well first of all, I really don't consider the Dakotas as part of the Midwest.

Secondly, it's my understanding that the Dakotas are pretty strongly anti-***. I think that might be distorting your view of the real Midwest.
