I'm not certain but I think Bridgewater has smallish hands too, which may be part of the reason he wears gloves all the time, to give him more grip on the football.

Vick has small hands and it's never really affected his throwing ability.

I've heard that finger length is more important than hand span for gripping and throwing a football anyway.

Isn't Vick known for having fumbling problems? I believe that's another concern with small hand QBs. Daunte Culpepper was also known for having smallish hands and fumbling problems.

All I know is that the pros scouts and GM's don't like it and that few solid NFL starting QB's have ever had small hands, not saying there haven't been successful NFL QB's who had small hands, just saying they were few and far between. It is going to limit Garropolo's rise on draft boards.

Scouts and GMs value height greatly in a QB, and there's a very general correlation between hands span and how tall a QB prospect is.

It's not like the NFL has a history of sub 6 foot QBs with 10+ inch hands being drafted in the first round. Or ever.

Vick fumbles a lot because he runs a lot and doesn't secure the football. Many RBs have less than ideal hand size and don't fumble the football. It's all about ball security for a QB by sensing the pass rush and when to bail out on a play.

I'm sure Dave Krieg would've loved to blame being the NFL's all-time fumbles leader on something other than his tiny hands... but he can't. But I agree about Vick. Ball security plus run frequency are Vick's biggest culprits. I'm not running the numbers but I would bet Vick's fumble percentage (fumbles divided by sacks plus rushing attempts) is on par with the top QBs in league.
