Same reason he left Miami for Mizzou. Getting fired is better for your bank account, but leaving is better for your Image. Which is all that worthless sack is worried about. I couldn't believe he landed the Mizzou job in the first place.
Not only was I surprised he landed the Mizzou job after everything at Miami, I'm surprised he still had the Mizzou job after everything.
Yeah, they could have easily fired him with cause and likely could have gotten out of having to pay him. It was a terrible hire to begin with.
It's going to be tough to attract just anyone to the job right now because Haith left the roster in shambles with his complete reliance on JuCo's and transfers and no new blood coming in 2014-15.
But Mizzou is a strong program. They have a lot of money and care about basketball. In the SEC, you have a strong platform in a big-time conference and a relatively easy path to the tournament every year. They're really only competing with UF and UK. It's a really good job, but the Athletic Department has been just awful at getting the right coach.
Christian Wood and Goodluck Okonoboh should form a pretty good front court next year. I don't think they'll be as good as Roscoe Smith and Khem Birch next year. However, give them two years together, and I think they will be better.
