I'll just say, I knew there was going to be problems when some chimp professor in Saskatchewan said that it hurts kids self esteem to be failed of held back a grade. Now teachers aren't allowed to hold a student back unless the parents agree, and even then, if the school board doesn't agree, the kid will just be pushed on to the next grade, regardless of the parents or teachers wishes. So what incentive is there for kids to actually try in school? Keep in mind this is only in elementary and middle school, so as soon as they get to high school, they get failed. No wonder we have so many high school dropouts. Let's see, what hurts a kids self esteem more, being held back a grade, OR NOT KNOWING HOW TO READ WHEN THEY"RE 18 YEARS OLD!
