From what I've seen of Rich Rodriguez, he seems like the kind of person that wouldn't abandon his alma mater and program he built for another one. Alabama could potentially triple his current salary though, so it's still a huge possibility.
This would hurt West Virginia and the Big East so much. Rodriguez is the only person who can coach the personnel at WVU, even with White and Slaton and company WVU would be lucky to go 5-7 with another coach.
I've always been in denial that the Big East was a terrible football conference (I do believe it's not as tough as the Big 10 or SEC, but they're not that bad), but I guess when you factor in program prestige and money, it's a sad truth.[/i]

Rumor on the radio is that he has accepted, they are just waiting to announce it.

I'm going to be pretty disappointed if this is the case, considering how strongly he came out to say he wanted to stay as long as the university would allow him. You don't come out and make such definitive statements if you're still open to offers.

Scout.com is reporting that Gator Bowl officials have been told that Rich Rod won't be coaching WVU in the game.

ESPN has updated their story...
Quote:
|
Sources told ESPN's Joe Schad that Alabama extended a six-year, $12 million offer to Rodriguez, and Alabama would also pay West Virginia a $2 million buyout. The proposed deal would make Rodriguez among the top 10 highest-paid college coaches in the nation, doubling his current salary.
|
Honestly I would have thought it would be for more money. Maybe he's job shopping for another reason?

I guess West Virginia didn't have enough inbreds, he needed to move to Alabama.

LOL!
Look at that tide of head coaches refusing 'bama roll!
Get over yourselves, people. You're nothing special.
