obviously the need for a pass rush out weighs the BAP scenario...but with Shack Harris you never know...
I would like to think that that Shack would realize that Campbell had the potential to be a great player...and that our need at DE is very much larger than RB...which I see as not a need...
as far as Williamson is concerned...if he can be had for a seventh round pick or if he gets cut and we could sign him on the very cheap...why not? He's got world class speed...why not give the spot some competition, and who knows...Williamson could revive his career somewhere other than minnesota and be that 1000 yard receiver the Vikings drafted to be in the first place...

This is hopelessly random, but there was a stupid thread posted on jaguars.com/mb (go figure...), and someone (Chooch) posted this there:
These are actual comments made on students' report cards by teachers in the New York city public school system. All teachers were reprimanded but, boy, are these funny!
1. Since my last report, your child has reached rock bottom and has started to dig.
2. I would not allow this student to breed.
3. Your child has delusions of adequacy.
4. Your son is depriving a village somewhere of an idiot.
5. Your son sets low personal standards and then consistently fails to achieve them.
6. The student has a 'full six-pack' but lacks the plastic thing to hold it all together.
7. This child has been working with glue too much.
8. When your daughter's IQ reaches 50, she should sell.
9. The gates are down, the lights are flashing, but the train isn't coming.
10. If this student were any more stupid, he'd have to be watered twice a week.
11. It's impossible to believe the sperm that created this child beat out 1,000,000 others.
12. The wheel is turning but the hamster is definitely dead.

Jaguars and Jerry Porter are all but a done deal, according to radio stations.
Well, this is interesting. It's a good acquisition, but along with Troy Williamson, it definitely means that Ernest Wilford's gone, it may mean Matt Jones is gone, and it may mean that the coaching staff doesn't think Mike Walker is what's he's all cracked up to be.

It's an alright move. It still leaves us without a true number 1, but whatever Jack thinks is best is fine with me.

Reports are also that Wilford has been signed by the Dolphins, and we have signed Cleo Lemon.
Adios, E-Dub. You were always a fan favorite and a class act.
And hello another black quarterback, lol. It's like a friggin social experiment. But reports are that we were driving hard for Todd Collins, so we're not totally racist ;)

Do any Jacksonville fans believe Matt Jones could be traded? Or will it be just blowing smoke? (I remember last season he didn't get alot of playing time, nor was he happy)

He might get released...trading, probably not.

You guys did trade for Troy Williamson so im sure you guys could get something for Jones. Personally Id like the Bears to offer a 5th or maybe even a 4th for him.
But you think he might get released? Really? is he that bad?

Well...I guess anything's possible.
So what I'm trying to say is that I have no real clue. I could see arguments for all possibilities: trade, release, keep.

Via PFT:
FLORENCE A JAG?
Chargers cornerback Drayton Florence is looking for a new team. On Friday, he visited with the Bucs. But now he's on his way to Jacksonville, and he's expected to join the Jaguars.
Per Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune, a deal with the Jags is "all but done."
Meanwhile, former Chargers running back Michael Turner remains in Atlanta, and his agent is negotiating with the teams about a contract.

Haha, free agency is wonderful, ain't it?
REPORTS OF FLORENCE TO JAGS PREMATURE
In response to a report from the San Diego Union-Tribune that cornerback Drayton Florence has a deal "all but done" with the Jags, a league source tells us that a deal is not imminent, or close.
Florence will visit with the Jags on Saturday, and he might work out a deal with them. But we're told that he's scheduling other visits and talking with other teams and isn't poised to sign with the Jaguars, or anyone.
With Asante Samuel signed and Marcus Trufant and Nnamdi Asomougha wearing the franchise tag, Florence is arguably the best free-agent option on the market at the position.

I think Florence will get a deal done with the Jags tomorrow...I just hope he doesn't command anywhere near what Asante Samuel got...I'd prefer about 15 mil guaranteed...
I also think that if he is signed it could signal Brian William's days at CB over...new days starting at Safety...

You were correct, sir. Except he was for 12 mil in bonus money, which is obviously better.
I don't agree about Brian Williams, though. I think Brian has the chance to lose his starting spot and become the nickel corner, but I think we'll pursue a traditional safety in free agency or the draft.

I think we got great value for Stroud and it positions us to move up in the draft and get a playmaking DE or DT...
Florence is a great signing...I do think there will be open competition for the #2 cornerback spot...but I think it is William's to lose..

Troy Williamson. Jerry Porter. Drayton Florence. Heck, even Cleo Lemon.
All of them meet a big need.
All of the position players have the potential to be outstanding players for us down the road.

Just wanted to stop in and congratulate you guys on the Florence signing. He certainly had his ups and downs with us but overall I will definitely miss him. He really has great tools to work with but rarely produced the way a guy with his talent could. That's not to say he is not a good player because he consistently played on a pretty high level. He can cover very well in man to man and is great supporting the run. He also has a little bit of tendency to come up big in important situations, something he has in common with Mathis if I'm not mistaken, and needless to say they'll make a great tandem. Florence is also reputed to be a great guy and hopefully he can blossom into a great corner with your team.

We just signed Sammy Knight away from you guys. Can you tell me anything about him? Stats say he was pretty good, but those that know me know that i hate stats and think theyre useless (for the most part) in football.
Thoughts on Sammy Knight?

He's a very good run defender, but is mostly a pass-coverage liability. However, with the Giants' pass rush, that may not be as much of a problem. The other issue is his age, but that's a bit obvious.

Have any of you guys heard anything else about Mo Williams. For months leading up to free agency all i wanted from Atlanta was Michael Turner and Maurice Williams to be brought in as RG and then draft Jake Long at LT to give us a real smashmouth mentaility.
Funnily enough we have signed Turner and negotiated with Williams. Id love to get Williams but im finding it hard to get some info on how close he is to signing anywhere. Its also possible he might re-sign. What are your thoughts?

I've heard that he's still talking to the Jags about resigning...but no doubt he wants to get paid...he's a dual threat in which he can start at Tackle or Guard for about 80% of teams in the league....
he's a better guard than tackle in my opinion...and I hope the Jags resign him but Mike Smith knows how good he is so it's a definite possibility that he signs with the Falcons....
