I just finished it as well, loved it. Fincher is the man. Thought it was vastly superior to the Swedish version in nearly every way.

If anyone actually ever realistically plans on making a Forest Gump 2, they better be able to afford real good security, because I can't imagine a lot of people would just let that happen...

The Grey was well done. More of a real movie than the trailer makes it out-reminded me a lot of The Road.

I liked the movie, but after a few of the awkward silences in the movie I just couldn't help but laugh when they kept happening. They should have cast Stephen Fry instead of Gosling. His ****** up nose combined with those long, silent close ups would have been oscar worthy.

I certainly felt tension. It would have been fairly realistic for any of the characters to die at any given time once it picked up. I really didn't mind the silence or quiet parts so much and it never really came off as all that awkward to me. I loved the way the movie was paced overall, even.

I can see why people wouldn't be a fan of the silences, but I just took it as Gosling being one cool ************. Many actors would certainly have failed to pull that off for me.

My link to drive **** out on me about half an hour in but I was enjoying it up until that point. Once I get a better upload of it I'll repost my thoughts. I went in expecting it to be rather slow and uncomfortable from people's thoughts on here which always helps with dealing with that sort of thing in movies when you go in with the right mind set. I'm assuming towards the tail end it picks up by a bit?

I have absolutely no problem with the silences, I just didnt think it resulted in any sort of tension. That and I really disliked where the story went about 1/3 of the way in. Was great up until that point. Then bleh.

this.
but for me, there was no tension because i didn't care about a single character. gosling's was the only one that was potentially interesting, and they crippled him. every other character was cardboard cutout, throwaway worthless. if more than 3% of the movie had been like the first scene, it would've been terrific.

Yes it is, in that situation. Is there a movie you do like?
