It would help if Zach wasn't doing the "no swearing" character AGAIN. I love the man and know he's capable of so much, but that character is beaten to death.

Well this really blows.
Quote:
There was already a Dumb and Dumber prequel, and maybe it was there that the water got dirty a little, but Jim Carrey has said that he’s now walking away from planned sequel, Dumb and Dumber To, because Warner Bros. and New Line just weren’t enthusiastic enough.
I have to admit surprise. I thought this film was just the age that it merited a nostalgia-fuelled follow up. Maybe the market research revealed that there wasn’t an appetite amongst the cinema going public. I certainly don’t mind, on a personal level, if the film never happens, and perhaps I’m not in the minority there?

Taken was one of the best action movies I've seen in recent memory. I'm sure Taken 2 won't do it justice, but I'll probably go see it in theatres. I thought the original Taken trailers looked awful too, and was blown away by how good it turned out to be.

Why the **** is there a Total Recall remake???
The original still holds up amazingly well and is one of the best science fiction movies of all time.
Oh wow. Scrolled up. Hadn't seen the other awfulness Hollywood is doing. WTF? Guessing "Dredd" goes straight to DVD?

Since when does Jason Statham have anything to do with Dredd?
And his last movie was in theaters a couple of months back.

Remakes based on films that were previously average or even bad can be made into good movies. Sometimes it's not necessarily the source material that is at fault, but the execution. Other factors like movie studios getting involving and wanting certain things done and not done can effect execution too. Not saying Dredd will be a slam dunk, but the movie hasn't been released yet. It could be decent. It might be more in line with the source material than it's predecessor.

It's going to be ****. The original movie was **** for more reasons than the material. It was a joke. Rob Schneider was in it. But the material still isn't good and it's already been soiled by Sly Stallone.

You've read Judge Dredd? Apparently it differs a good amount from the 1995 film.
This is what John Wagner, long time writer and co-creator for Judge Dredd had to say about the new film:
Quote:
The main Judge Dredd writer John Wagner has said:
I have read the script (by Alex Garland) and seen Jock’s visuals. While I can’t go into detail about the content I can say that it’s high-octane, edge of the seat stuff, and gives a far truer representation of Dredd than the first movie. I hated that plot. It was Dredd pressed through the Hollywood cliché mill, a dynastic power struggle that had little connection with the character we know from the comic.
|
Sometimes, it depends on context and vision. Batman and Robin, the 1997 film, is hardly what fans would consider relevant to the actual mythos of Batman and what the character, and his side characters are about. The setting and characters are all there, but folks hardly consider that apart of the Batman legacy. It's basically a 2 hour toy commercial put out by Warner Bros. with an alternative agenda. Whereas a film like Batman Begins hits more in the right direction.

Robin Hood Men in Tights. Everytime it's on I must watch it.
Robin Hood: Blinkin! What are you doing?
Blinkin: Guessing. I guess no one's coming.

I'm glad there's continuity between the characters and the actors. I hate when they switch people up between sequels.

I don't care how weak the plot is, watching Liam Neeson kick people's ass will make Taken 2 worth it.
