I could see why people think it was fun, especially people unfamiliar with the franchise or people that weren't interested in what came before this movie. It really depends on taste. Personally I don't necessarily need the running through the corridors all the time, jumping off skyscrapers and cliffs, or other action based tropes (which Star Trek was never great at in the first place or known for) to have a good story. It's a new direction for Star Trek, and I can see from both sides why some enjoy it and some are a little turned off by it. Me, I'm in the middle. There are some things I like that Abrams did, and there are some things that irk me. His vision for Star Trek is definitely fun it's own way, but personally it's not what got me interested in Star Trek in the first place. I'll definitely see the new film just because I'm curious as to how they'll build off the first one. I am skeptical though. Hopefully just from a story standpoint it doesn't have some of the big plot holes the first one did.

Yes that's a great film. For a long time I didn't know it was adapted from a graphic novel. I think Sam Mendes was the director correct?

Didn't know about the novel either.

I'm skeptical it will be as good as the first one was but I'm excited none the less.

I went and saw Oz in IMAX 3D today. I enjoyed it. I liked it more than Alice in Wonderland since I guess thats probably a somewhat comparable movie.

I finally got around to seeing the Hobbit this afternoon at the dollar theatre. It was quite good. A lot of added stuff from other sources and little aspects changed from the books. But I thought it was a very good adaptation. Looking forward to the next two.

Pain And Gain is so good it's hard to believe that Michael Bay directed the hell out of this one or that it's a true story. Finally a Michael Bay movie with some high quality actors. This movie is sureal and hilarious. You all need to watch this don't look too much into trailers, they aren't what they seem

And how did you see the film a month before it's official release date?

Ahh Los Angeles. Well that make sense. Except the "best place in the world" part. :)

I watched Perks of Being a Wallflower this weekend. It was okay. The book was much better. That is usually the case but in this instance, it wasn't even close. The book is very short, so you would think it would be easier to get more of the book in the film. But I thought they left out quite a bit of stuff and then quickly glossed over other parts. I'd give it about a 6.3 out of 10.

Of all the books that have been made into special effects orgy movies in the last 10 years, I can't believe it took somebody this long to tackle Ender's Game.

If I remember right they tried a few years back (had a script done and were in talks) but they fell apart. I can't recall why.
