Probably didn't want to copy the Marvel blueprint book by book. That and Superman/Batman is a great marketing ploy. Regardless of the outcome on how well it's received, it will make a boatload of money because you have the two most iconic Superheroes in one film for the first time ever.

Because that's a different continuity. People want to see Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne on screen. Not Clark Kent and John Blake. It wouldn't make sense. Besides, JGL is quite scrawny to be Batman. And short. He just don't have the body for it.

Na, the jean Paul valley batman wasn't actually batman but a fill in for him after bane broke Bruce's back. Eventually jean Paul valley lost it and just want full on kill mode in a ridiculous metal batman suit. Check out knight fall, it's awesome.

Depends what comics you are referencing. And in what context. In the a lot of the times Batman has "won" against Superman, it's almost always a contrived circumstance so that Batman actually has a chance (he needs prep time). And a lot of the time Batman hasn't defeated Superman, just either slowed him down to accomplish another objective (The Dark Knight Returns, Hush). And in some cases Batman has gotten completed owned by Superman (Red Sun, Superman: King of the World, Lex Luthor:Man of Steel).

Watched Oblivion. Not sure I get the hate it received. Solid Sci-Fi movie, which seems to be the consensus of those of us who've seen it. Too tired to formulate an opinion on the very end, but it was a solid watch.

Don't blame me. I saw it on advanced screening on Thursday. Unlike the rest of these clowns, I fully appreciate the godlike comedic ventures of Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. As far as I'm concerned, the Cornetto Trilogy is the best thing to ever happen to comedy cinema.

I enjoyed it. I'm not sure it was really, really good. It was an above average coming of age movie and I hate endings where they put a happy face on it. I related all too well to the main character though.

I don't think they put a happy face on it, necessarily. He's still a flawed person that dragged her down to his level. I don't think it's as good as Before Midnight, but I'd put it with Mud as my favorites of the year so far.

Zach Snyder defending the destruction and killing in Man of Steel:

Quote:
I wanted the movie to have a mythological feeling. In ancient mythology, mass deaths are used to symbolize disasters
So you made a film set in modern times and killed 129,000 to teach the audience a lesson about disasters?

Quote:
In other countries like Greece and Japan, myths were recounted through the generations, partly to answer unanswerable questions about death and violence. In America, we donít have that legacy of ancient mythology. Superman (who first appeared in ĎAction Comicsí in 1938) is probably the closest we get. Itís a way of recounting the myth.
Your'e recounting the myth by completely ignoring its source material and doing something the creator of the comic book swore never to do?

I cannot stand Zack Snyder and how Warner Bros. let him direct the new Superman franchise and epically screw it up is beyond me. And now we're stuck with this awful director butchering one of the greatest American icons on the big screen for the foreseeable future. The guy had an awful track record of directing films and how he earned this is beyond me.

I want to see The Spectacular Now! Also wanted to see Ponsoldt's last effort in Smashed and that never happened, but I got a good feeling about this one.

BTW, Gonzo, HAVE YOU SEEN THE ******* TIFF LINEUP!
The lineup is insane. I WISH I could be in Toronto for at. If Inherent Vice makes premieres at TIFF next year I WILL be there.

Meh. I could see having Superman have to make a choice. I don't like the fact that he had to kill, but I felt the same way about Batman Begins at the end when Bruce would have saved Ras Al Ghul. And it isn't like we've seen this on screen before. He did it in Superman II. Or rather, it's implied that he did.

I definitely didn't like the huge collateral damage towards the public though. That was overboard.
