Brodeur is going to stab me for thinking this, but I have the Reader as my 3rd favorite movie of 2008 behind Button and Wrestler.

The Dark Knight could have been so much better if they just ended it at the scene where Batman finally catches the Joker, and he's hanging from the top of the building. It leave Two-Face alive and on the loose, assuming they take out that stupid phone call to Gordon, and gets rid of that entire end scene, which was pretty bad.

I liked the last scene (except two-face's death). It made a lot of sense (about Joker taking the best of them).
Harvey Dent is the ****. I liked him in the comic books and movie a ton.

The Gary Oldman's speech at the end is probably my favorite part.(That doesnt include the joker)

I have watched, Choke, Let The Right One In, Slumdog Millionaire, The Wackness, & RocknRolla in the last couple of nights
Let The Right One In, is my favorite of these, followed by RocknRolla then the other 3 are basically tied

No doubt, CWO is a great film there is no denying that. "Intense" would be an understatement when it to comes to the describing that movie for me. But on a slow day I would probably pop in FMJ over CWO.

I literally just got done watching the wrestler. I thought, much like the Dark Knight, that there was no way it could live up to all the hype. I was wrong. It is one of the greatest films I have ever seen. Mickey Rourke is so freaking talented, just think of all the other epic movies he could have starred in if greedy studio execs weren't such shallow money-grubbers installing actors who they deem "marketable" ... I almost wish it was still an indy and none of the big studios had picked it up, then it would be all mine. Im selfish like that. I don't want all these stupid mass-media-fed wannabes trying to talk to me about how amazing Mickey Rourke is when I bet they can't even name another film he is in without consulting imdb.

Both Clockwork Orange and Full Metal Jackets are tops in my list but my favorite Kubrick film has to be The Shining.

Augh. I still need to watch Full Metal Jacket.
I own The Shining, A Clockwork Orange, and Dr. Strangelove and love all of them.

Yes, if we were all really manly men we should of all watched Serendipity or cinema classics such as Pearl Harbor and Van Helsing.

Don't forget Click. That movie was like Rambo mixed with Rocky with a little bit of Animal House thrown in

I went to Best Buy the other day and once again started to get depressed at the thought of having to replace my close to 300 DVDs with bluray someday.
I almost bought some DVDHD/DVD combos for 3.99 though.

That is way better then the screenings I got for film this year. I have had to watch some ****** movies this year. But there were some good ones. We got to watch:
Memento
Casablanca
Citizen Kane
It Happened One Night
Rope
Mean Streets
Jaws
Taxi Driver
Knocked Up
but since mine is a full year course, I have had to watch alot of ****** movies in between those good ones.

Usually these classes will open you up to new films you wouldn't have experienced elsewhere, this list is much to mainstream for my liking. In my American Cinema class we focused on genres of film, such as Film Noir, and it really boradened my perspective on film. All of these movies on the list you have probably seen or will see anyway in the future, I don't see any unifying theme within these films, it's just a who's who of historical cinema, films that you can research and break down yourself because there is already so much information on them. Sure the class will be fun because these are great films, but it really won't open you up to new ways of thinking about film. I hadn't even known what film noir was before my american cinema class, now it is my favorite genre.
