I knew we were working on a contract with him, since I've seen numerous "Simon meets with Titans" articles on Yahoo. I just didn't know how close he was to signing.
The only thing that bothers me is that he was released by the Colts, who are very thin at the DT position. So if he was able to play, or had the potential to contribute to their season at some point, one would think they would have kept him, even though he was out last year with a "non-football related illness" or something like that... But seeing as how he's passed our physicals and tests, I'm very excited about this signing. Its a one year deal, so its apparently no big financial signing. And if he's healthy, he can help in our DT rotation, even if he's not in his old form, and possibly even start if he's able to, so that we can be creative with Tony Brown. He only has upside. A healthy DT rotation of Haynesworth, Brown, and Simon is something I like a lot.
