He was picked up as an assistant for the Raptors.
So are the Pistons done this year or are they saving some cap for next summer?

I'm not sure why everyone thinks Ariza will be a Cav. The Lakers are willing to offer the full MLE but not more. The Cavs can only offer the MLE. The reality is Ariza is probably just holding out that a team like the Blazers or Raptors will offer him a contract in the 7-8 mil a year range. My guess is he thinks he is at least worth the 5 year/40 mil offer Charlie V got from Detroit. His thought is that between the Blazers and Raptors, the team that doesn't get Hedo may offer him a 9 mil a year contract. The only reason he'd go to Cleveland over the Lakers is the fact that he's bitter they won't give him a bigger contract when they can, because the money will be identical.

The thought is that the Lakers are hesitant to even give him the MLE, so if he is going to take the MLE take it elsewhere. They clearly value Odom more so than him, where as he would be a vital piece in Cleveland.

I think the tough part to swallow is that there is definitely a shift in philosophy that Dumars is taking now. Instead of the stout defensive minded team, he's obviously going to try and assemble a high octane offensive team and place less importance on defense.

CV got 5 years/40 million.

I would be in love if we got Ron Artest. Maybe my second favorite NBA player.
PG- Mo Williams
SG- Delonte West
SF- LeBron James
PF- Ron Artest
C- Shaq
That is so badass. We would have to run more though, which would be an issue with Shaq.
Watch us get nobody. :(

I didn't know Nate Robinson was a free agent?
Also, you don't have LA getting Odom or Ariza back?

LA has already disrespected Ariza. They may get Odom, but San Antonio is pushing hard to get him.
Nate is a RFA and the Knicks don't want him back. LA has shown interest.

I think Artest is a Rocket but the only other team I see getting him is the Lakers as they may opt to not keep Ariza nor Odom and Artest has many personal reasons for playing for LA. He is good friends with Kobe who is courting him, but biggest is he can go back home where he loves it in Cali to be around his goonies. I don't see him wanting to go to Cleveland when he can be in an equal if not better winning situation along with being able to lay in the sun.

Artest isn't from LA he is from NY so if he wanted to go back home he would be signing with the Knicks which he wont and the Knicks don't want him from what I can see.

The Knicks would gladly take him back they just don't want to lose him for nothing.

The Knicks will try to use their $5.7 million mid-level exception on Grant Hill, who accepted an invitation to New York Monday for a recruiting visit, according to a source.
|
Why?

Unless it's a S&T, the MLE is all you have to offer Kidd. God I hope you guys offer us a S&T. I don't want to see a 37 year old Kidd guarding CP3 and Tony Parker for another 3 years.

That's a funny thought. :D
Are the Mavs serious about matching offers for Bass?

I don't think its a S&T and we cant be offering Hill the MLE exception and Jason Kidd the MLE exception so either Hill is getting less then the MLE or Kidd is getting more since I have been hearing the Knicks might be offering a 3 yr deal to Kidd.

I highly doubt it. Bass wants to start and he isn't going to with Dirk here and there hasn't been any news of us keeping him.

Thanks. I can see him starting in Orlando if Lewis is moved to SF. However, it wouldn't be on a permanent basis because Lewis will still be playing PF when SVG calls for it.

It seems more likely that Orlando will split the MLE and thus the Carter trade would be a terrible move. I heard yesterday that Otis had Bass on the phone but, the money wasn't right or something along those lines. He didnt want to give him the full MLE and that is what Bass is seeking, at the least.
But something that contradicts that report is that Orlando may be willing to spend the full MLE on Nate Robinson. Love his scoring but, I want no part of him. It would be atleast funny that you would basically be getting rid of three great teammates for VC, who doesnt get great reviews from his teammates and Nate who some have compared to T.O. and hogs the ball way too much.

There was also a report floating around that we'd match any offer for Gortat but, i dont buy it.
With Millsap probably going back to Utah now, apparently, OKC has turned their sights to Gortat.

Now is no time to doubt Otis Smith. I've finally come on board with what he's done recently. Also, don't forget Ryan Anderson came back in the trade. I'd take him straight up over Battie. There's also the door open for Hendrix to seize the opportunity. Losing Lee hurts and I quickly became a fan of Alston. So losing him sucks too. But the formula we used to get there this year wasn't going to win us the championship next year. The way the Lakers stifled our offense and beat us to the boards was done in dominant fashion. Superstars win in this league and Hedo isn't a superstar.
There's also this fact... when Courtney Lee's rookie contract is up, so is VCs. I could see us pursuing him in his prime if he becomes everything we think he'll become.
I would HATE Nate Robinson. HATE IT.
I'd be ok without Bass so long we get someone like McDyess. I think McDyess would take a partial MLE to go to a contender. If we got Antonio McDyess and Luther Head and I'm a happy man.
