All of our main guys are gone and not to mention there is going to be a ton of money open next year when McGrady's contract is up. They could afford to go after one of the big free agents. Not to mention we could possibly get a really high pick so John Wall or Ed Davis could be a Rocket as well. Our only center is like 6'8 in Chuck Hayes so its not looking good. Houston, we have a problem.
It's ok to take one step backwards, if you can make 2 steps forwards. However, you don't need Wall. Also, with T-Mac's expiring contract you should expect to get great value there if you guys can find the right trade offer.

Rebuilding around Brooks and Ariza is not a good idea.

Brooks sucks, if we rebuild around him, then we are in trouble.

I'm still hoping out for Yao. Without him, the season's over.

just submitted an FML as Ariza...the guy took the same "disrespectful" deal to sign with the ??? Rockets, instead of re-upping with his hometown, champion Lakers. His agent dropped this doozy "Money was never the issue. We just want to go somewhere we felt appreciated."

Show me a Laker fan who doesn't appreciate Ariza, seriously. For the same $, this is definitely a facepalm situation.

WTF???

He has signed with Houston for the mid! David Lee his agent is a complete moron, the guy went to the media after one day of negotiating, and ended up getting his boy run out of his own hometown! And with not a penny more to show for it.

Utter fail.
In the end, Ariza still agreed to it. The Rockets really couldnt offer much more. It was either the mid or find another team. The Rockets still have TMac and Yao on the books and that is just about their whole payroll. I think he saw the opportunity at having the starting job handed to him and he took it.

Brooks showed his potential in the playoffs. You have barely even seen him play to already say that he "sucks." He scored 34 points in one game and the Lakers had no answer for him just about the whole series. I wonder how bad Yao's foot is too. He still has 5 months or so to see if its gets better. The Rockets also dont have a backup. Chuck Hayes is like 6'8 and cant play center. Either way, this coming season isnt looking pretty.

He's played the whole season and is a terrible guy to be your star PG. Brooks would be good coming off the bench to give the team a spark, but in no way should he be the starter. He has a streaky shot and doesn't like to pass. He exploded in the Lakers series, but that's all he's done. He's just another flash in the pan player that people will have unfair hopes for.

Yah that doesn't make the whole thing any more sensical though. Ariza was a starter for us, and he took the same amount of money to sign for a team wasn't his hometown NBA champion Lakers. His agent tried to play hardball, and obviously Artest was high enough on Mitch's wish list that LA decided to skip the drama, leaving Ariza in a bad spot. It's sad for Trevor, and I'll miss him, but all I can say is "Welcome Ron Ron."

I have a dream. A dream of signing and trading Hedo for Shawn Marion and another rotation guy. A dream of, after solidifying our starting lineup with this acquisition, being able to split the mid two ways to improve our depth at guard.

And he'd be the... what, fourth or fifth option on the Magic?

Obviously Howard and Rashard would get more touches then him. And Nelson and/or Carter would as well.

He could flourish in that situation.

I really thought Sheed to Boston was a lock, but the Celtics brass left his home without an agreement from him to sign. Sheed is going to visit the Spurs and Magic next. How great is that? IMO, Sheed is #1 on my list for the Magic. With him, I think the Magic can compete with LA for a Championship. He can play PF or C. He has an inside and outside game. He can rebound, block, put back, and do it with an attitude of fiestiness that can rub off on fellow Magic players. He has game that would compliment Dwight perfectly.

I can understand if Sheed decides to go to San Antonio or Boston, but I hope he decides that Orlando is his choice.

Props to Sheed for playing the field. At this point, with the money that he's going to get, it makes sense to shop around and find the best situation. All of them definitely have their pluses and minuses and are similar situations, so if he's going to make similar money in all of those places as well (as I presume he will), makes sense to see where he's most comfortable and where he thinks he can have the most success.

San Antonio seems like the best fit for Sheed tbh. He is going to be starting and starting beside Tim Duncan who isn't a big ego guy. I don't know why he'd want to be in Boston. He'd be coming off the bench and would have to be one of KG's beyotches.

Vince is gonna put his UNC alumni skills to use and get Sheed to come to Orlando. I don't think Sheed wants to play with a bunch of foreigners. He's all American and it doesn't get more American than Mickey Mouse. :D
