Did LA use part of the MLE on Blake? How did they sign him exactly? Looks like they've got Shannon Brown and Derek Fisher back, and if they still have the MLE at their disposal that would be kind of nasty.

I think they split the MLE on all three guys, with Blake getting most of it.

the lakers were interested in Blake since before free agency started. They willingly sought him out, he didn't come running. Ill buy Ron Ron though.
Who else were in the running for blake?

Didn't even notice Strawberry and Green on the LA Summer League team. Would be nice to see Gerald Green and Shannon Brown challenging each other for the dunk of the night.

I'm more teasing him than any thing. He's talking about it being 4 teams, well surely the Lakers are in that those 4 seemingly elite teams. It's not as if his team is one who is missing out.

They can also compete to see who is the least skilled at playing the game of basketball.

ah yeah... makes sense.
it's more the old veteran players that are choosing these elite teams rather than choosing the young teams with a good core because they just dont have the luxury of time on their hands.

It's definitely Green, Shannon at least had some semblance of a J before he broke his thumb.

If the Heat can get Matt Barnes it is over man. Just put LeBron at "PG" and the rest will be there: low post scoring, rebounding, defense, 3P shooting.

I wanted Mike Miller but I dont know if I would've wanted 5 years of him.
EDIT: then again a 34 year old Steve Blake isn't necessarily that much better.

DeMarcus Cousins tearing it up last night with 22 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and the game winning shot. I love it

Erik Spoelstra's father is an executive for the Mandalay Group, which recently took ownership of the Warriors, leading to speculation that the Heat coach will eventually leave Miami for Golden State.
|
Now Erik Spoelstra has a reason to leave and Pat Riley to take over the coaching.

Lakers have 1.8 million of their MLE left, they used the rest on Blake. Fisher and Brown can return because you can resign anyone who was already on your team, regardless if you're over the cap. Plus, Lakers have the early bird rights, or that stuff, for Brown.
Also, Cousins IS a beast. Caracter and Ebanks were kind of disappointing today when compared to what they did in previous games.

Steve Blake is a week younger than Miller. Miller was born on Feb. 19, 1980 while Blake was born on Feb. 26.
And Blake is a great fit for the triangle. Smart guy with good shot selection, and 39.3 career percentage for 3's.
With Miller, you get another lethal shooter, but that is if he can shake of the fear of shooting that was instilled into him in Minnesota. Sure he had a great 3 percantage last year, but he only tried like half of the shots he used to take. He, for some reason, started to believe he needed to make an extra pass or something.
And the David Kahn interview was hilarious. How that guy wound up being a GM is beyond me.

It's only fair to mention that the legendary Greg Stiemsma was guarding him with perennial all star Patrick O'Bryant rotating in.

So Pat Riley gets another stacked team to carry him to a few more rings. lame. Riley is one of the luckiest coaches of all-time.

"The key is great coaching is to find the team with two superstars and go there."
"I got you beat, I have three superstars."

Guber owns the Warriors...Dunno what to say. Was hoping Ellison would win, but he wasn't going to overpay. If he brings in a competent front office and immediately fires Nellie and Riley, I'll be happy.

If that is rule #1 of being a great NBA coach, then Rule #2 must be "keep those stars from killing eachother long enough to win a few titles."
