Quote:
The Miami Heat are a hot ticket -- they have sold out of season seats and there is a 6,000 person waiting list now. Demand for tickets is through the roof. Everybody wants to see LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh together. The tickets sell themselves.

So, why keep that season ticket sales staff around? The people who busted their butt for you, who were cold-calling dead leads like Jack Lemon in Glengarry Glen Ross three months ago when nobody wanted to come see you. No need to be fair to them.

As reported in the Miami Herald, the Heat have canned their entire season seat sales staff. That's about 30 people.

Stay classy, Miami.
In a statement, the Heat confirmed the dismissals Friday afternoon, saying that with an ``exhausted'' inventory of season-tickets ``we no longer require a season ticket sales team to sell tickets.''

Stephen Weber, vice president of sales, delivered the news to about 30 ticket sales people Friday morning, according to one of the staffers who asked not to be named because he is seeking another job in sports.
It makes sense that there isn't the need for a season ticket sales staff, but you couldn't find other places to use them in the organization? Couldn't find a better way to transition them? Just a mass firing. Nice.

Micky Arison better not believe in karma.

I think it is funny that Jay-Z, part owner of the Nets, bought season tickets for the Miami Heat.

(conflict of interest?)

What sucks is all of those bandwagon Heat fans from the Shaq days are going to come out of the woodwork again. And I swear, I wont shy away from beating the bandwagon kid, who is trying to be different then the rest, by rocking a Bosh jersey.

"I'm a bandwagon fan, but I'm different because, I'm not wearing a Wade or Lebron jersey."

You gone get your ass kicked.

Now I really want to see a team who is already a contender in the East trade for Chris Paul so hopefully they can beat the Heat when it counts: in the playoffs. Why can't the Hornets just trade him to the Magic already?

Paul, Richardson, Pietrus (Lewis), Lewis (Okafor), Howard could give the Heat some problems.

Hopefully for the fans sake the Magic better bury Vince Carter, never to be found again. His performance last year against Boston was one of the most pathetic things I have ever seen on a basketball court. The team would be so much better without him.

yeah, you tell those 30 people who tried selling lame tickets for years that they no longer have an income even though they did their job exactly how they were asked.

All he is right now is an expiring contract that the Magic should desperately try to move. Right now QRich and JJ are much better options at SG than VC. He is just a shell of his former self and it will be doubtful if he can become a quality 6th man.

That is pretty much why I want the Hornets to trade CP3 for him. We have Collison, who is ready to become a breakout player, and Thornton, who could really learn from a player like VC. Also, his expiring contract will help the Hornets out a TON, not to mention the fact that Jameer Nelson, Marcin Gortat (future center for the team), and Mickael Pietrus and/or Brandon Bass would become integral to the team. It wouldn't hamstring the Magic much either. They have shown they are willing to shell out the dough to be a contender. Trading for CP3 by taking on Okafor and Posey's contracts isn't that bad. It is advantageous for both teams.

It seem like a win/win for me if I were a GM of the Hornets. As it is, New Orleans isn't going anywhere. They won't have the caproom next year to sign anyone significant that will improve their chances. They need to clear space NOW! The Hornets get cap space and some pieces to build around while the Magic get an All-Star PG with a quality backup SF and a solid PF/C. While moving CP3 is a a huge blow, the effects in the long term will outweigh the effects in the short term. Also, Chris Paul to the Magic is better for the league. It makes Orlando more of a competitor which would make the ratings better. But what do I know? I'm just a casual fan.

Look at the scoreboard too. LeBron had a chance for a game winning shot.

It was a layup.

It rimmed out.

No.

He's just a dick.

People give him a pass for it bc he's Michael Jordan, but he's really just a dick.

EDIT: I'm not saying he's not the best ever (he is), i'm saying no, that's not the reason why he came off as a dick. He's basically just a dick.
