They wuld be better off holding out to get a better package. Not to mention...why the **** would the Jazz do that deal?

Diaw has 2 years left on his (******)contract compared to AK47s huge expiring. I doubt the Jazz are so desperate to save cash that they would give up AK47s contract this year, yet have to pay Diaw 9 mil this year and the next

That trade would be unbelievable for the Nets as long as they were able to lock up Melo long term.

You are way too much of a homer for players on the 12 win Nets haha

well the deal would only happen if we lock Melo up long term. I just don't know if I like Farmar at the point...or maybe we'd start T-Will at the point and morrow at the 2?

and hey, I was a homer on Rutgers football teams that won 1 game, I'm loyal!

It's not for cap room, it's for salary. Losing about $10 million would get Utah comfortably under the luxury tax.

Bill Simmons was on PTi and he said the Lakers should get in on this Carmelo Anthony trade.

He said they should offer Bynum + Artest for Melo.

What do you think of Wesley Matthews this year? New 5 year, $34M dollar contract. Not a lot for a proven player, but after 1 year, part time play... and being undrafted...? Thoughts?

Expectations?

Carmelo signs off on trade to New Jersey.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/ba...t ml?r=sports

"According to multiple sources with knowledge of a proposed four-team blockbuster, the Nets are negotiating a deal that would bring them Carmelo Anthony from Denver in exchange for Devin Harris, first-round pick Derrick Favors plus draft picks.

There are some small details that could derail the deal, but Anthony is believed to have signed off on the deal, according to an NBA source, and it could happen as early as Saturday. Anthony's approval was pivotal in the deal because the Nets wouldn't have agreed to it for a one-year rental."

Curious. Not sure I agree, but they are higher on Joel Anthony than everybody else and maybe they plan on playing small-ball.

I have no idea where New Jersey ends up with their new look lineup. I think they probably make the playoffs, but I have a hard time putting them anywhere higher than 6th, most likely 7th/8th. But when 12 wins is your starting point I guess that is lightyears worth of improvement.

I probably wouldn't predict them to go to the playoffs this year.

But they will have a boatload of cash next summer.

If the Nets were able to get Melo without giving up Bropez I would say the Nets would be my top pick to get CP3 in FA.

That would be an orgasmic team.

I agree with DUnit though, I don't think this trade puts the Nets in the playoffs this year. Maybe squeak in as a 8 seed, but I'd bet they don't get in.

Pretty legit, I guess. I don't think the Spurs are great, plus I like the Thunder more than most. Don't really have an issue with putting the Lakers over the Heat, even though I think the Heat are the better team. Still fair to go with the reigning champions. though.

Thoughts -

I think the Hornets will be a lot better than people think. If Paul stays healthy they will make the playoffs. They are definitely better than the Bobcats, 76ers and Knicks in my opinion and will be ahead of Denver when they move Carmelo Anthony.

The Spurs are ranked too highly I think. They were annihilated by the Suns last year, that should tell you enough about how they've fallen. Not disrespect to the Suns, but the Spurs used to have their number. I do want to see how Tiago Splitter plays though.

Give me the Thunder over the Bulls.

Boston deserves high regard now, I suppose, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if their entire team implodes next year. They slept walked through the second half of the regular season last year and injuries and fatigue wiped them out in game 6 and 7. I don't think they can pull off one of those 'save ourselves for when it really matters' runs again, with them somehow finding a way to get older and more injury prone than they were a year ago. Their defense is going to suffer as well, they will miss Tony Allen and Kendrick Perkins.

I also do not think that the Timberwolves will be the worst team in the league. They have gotten younger and more athletic and they will feature more Kevin Love now that Al Jefferson is gone.

Lakers over Heat makes sense now, but when push comes to shove I think the Heat will be the best team in the league. They have two top-5 players, another top-15 player, and two of the better bench/supporting cast players in the league. Hopefully they play to their strengths and play small and fast and don't try and grind out opponents in ugly 96-88 games.
