Apparently we won't use our amnesty this year because Joe Dumars feels there's a trade market for our junk. Nobody will take Rip, Villanueva, or Gordon from us unless we take on a worse contract or give them a draft pick.

I hate Joe Dumars.

Why? You don't like the idea of paying Ben Gordon 36M+ over the next three years?

I'm somehow guessing that Chauncy Billups will be a part of the CP3 deal. I'd take draft picks, Billups, Douglas, and Turiaf. That would give the Hornets $18.5 mil of expiring contracts which would drop the Hornets down to less than $30 mil in salary for the 2013 season. They could drop even more if somehow they used the amnesty clause on Trevor Ariza and were able to sign Thaddeus Young.

If that is all its going to take to get a deal done then Paul would be a Knick already.

I know. The Knicks don't have enough on their roster, nor enough draft picks, to send to NOLA to make a trade even. They're going to have to get a third team involved. If I'm NOLA I want to free up cap space and to get younger (obvious).
I'd be willing to swing Trevor Ariza for a young SF. There's a deal out there that could make all teams involved happy. NOLA would suck for a year but it's better to get something for your star player than be left with just your balls in your hand.

Clippers could make the sexiest offer for Dwight.
There are pieces there...Gordon, Aminu, Bledsoe, Jordan, Thompkins, Kaman's contract, the T'Wolves 1st rounder.

I'm really interested to see which teams amnesty which players. There could be some decent players available depending on what happens.

**** NY. Sign a deal, play in LA, Chris. You know you want to.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=bqojpng
Clippers suddenly become an extremely young, athletic, and competitive team with CP3, Eric Gordon, Trevor Ariza, & Blake Griffin with some cap flexibility.
Hornets get younger with Jordan & Aminu, get a decent swingman in Gomes, and get $20.5 million in cap space with Kaman & Mo Williams expiring.

I think the whole LA thing is just a leverage move by him. He wants NY, he'll probably wind up with the Knicks unless the Lakers can get Dwight, then maybe he'll go to LA.

Lakers can dream all they want. They aren't getting Dwight. ...AND CP3? LOLz.
NY has the cap to fit a max contract in the summer. LA doesn't.

If the Magic say no to that, then they'd be stupid. It's the best deal theyd get for a player that won't even be on their team anymore at season's end.

Its just been something going through my head. If we want D12 as bad as it sounds, and now rumors of wanting CP3 also? I think we'd have to trade both the big men for Dwight and go for CP3 in FA, but CP3 wont make it that far so its tough to say
In reality I dont think both is anywhere near possible but thats the only way itd work...IMO

I think Dwight is a lock to go to LA. CP3? I think he's going to be a Knick.
LA will trade Bynum and Pau for Dwight. It's as fair of a trade as Orlando will receive, and both teams will be better for it.

CP3 has kinda pushed NOLA into a corner concerning going to NY and has left them with few options.
1) Keep him until the end of the season and receive zero compensation
or
2) Trade him for pennies on the dollar and receive 1st round draft picks past 2018 while getting Billups, Douglas, & Turiaf in return.
There's not many teams, imo, that would want to get involved in a 3 way trade to make a trade more fair for New Orleans.
This is exactly why I lose faith in the NBA - there is just no way for small market teams to be able to compete and keep superstar players.

There is always Sign and Trade. I feel like you can get the same deal as 2 after the year giving Paul another year.

theres something in the new cba about sign & trades maximum of 3 years on the deal or something that is supposed to stop teams from doing them

Yeah. The league is fatally flawed. I thought they'd fix it with the new CBA, but looks like they didn't.
The NBA doesn't want parity unfortunately.

Yea I was gonna comment on this as well. Thought I read something about them limiting sign and trades.
