I honestly don't see Kim English (our second round pick at 44) being any worse than Fields. Point being, he can be replaced really easily and it's pointless to pay him that much.

People make decisions they regret all the time. People act like they've never changed their mind on an important decision before. C'mon. I don't think he deserves bashing and I think the Magic got the most they could out of him. They got to the Finals, but in trying to get back, they stumbled hard. Can't blame him for wanting to leave. Stars rarely stay with teams out of loyalty. Not even Steve Nash. The public just has to get used to the new age.

I blame the NBA owners too. They should've implemented some version of the Franchise tag in the new CBA.

No, they shouldn't have. Why should they hold their players hostage when they can't drag themselves out of the shitter? Teams have enough leverage as it is in player negotiations, the one thing they have in the NBA is unrestricted free agency, why should they take that away?

There is nothing wrong with Dwight leaving. People are bashing him because he opted into a contract after demanding to be traded and then demanded a trade a few months after opting into the contract.

It works in the NFL where the players have even less power since teams can cut them anytime if they want.

The NBA players have way too much power and money guarantee. A single player can cripple a franchise for nearly a decade. Grant Hill and his injuries did that to the Magic for 8 years. That ain't right.

You're wrong though, it DOESN'T work in the NFL. In the NFL, the teams have just about all the leverage. They even collude with each other to screw players out of restricted free agency. It's awful how one sided it is, and it didn't get any better after last year's lockout, it's just too huge a machine to do anything about it.

They made a fix in this CBA for the Grant Hill thing. Your own team benefited greatly from it, by saving them from their own stupidity. There is a limited franchise tag, it's called RFA. Dwight signed an extension and they had eight whole years to do something with it. Most NFL players don't even play for eight years. I think he's earned his shot to start fresh elsewhere.

I just disagree with the whole 'let's keep him here even though he doesn't wanna be here' strategy. It sucks. Look at all the contract disputes in the NFL thanks to the franchise tag.

He should be bashed and he should be laughed at. He's handled this whole thing about as terribly as anybody could.

I don't think anyone disagrees with that. He's just saying that he shouldn't be bashed for wanting to leave, just for the way he handled it. Everyone agrees that he's done an awful job at that. On par, if not worse than Lebron's exit strategy.

I don't see how LeBron's exit strategy was nearly as bad as Dwight. He didn't say anything to Cleveland and just did what any normal free agent does, and THE DECISION raised a bunch of money for charity.

I agree, Dwight's was worse but this statement is the fallacy of thinking the ends justify the means.
