The thing thats ridiculously stupid about Dwight is: why would you state PUBLICLY that you would only sign an extension with the Nets, rather than just ask the front office in private to be traded to the nets. What Dwight effectively did was kill Orlando's leverage.

That's just one of his many mistakes. Saying he wanted to be traded last season was bad. Then opting in was his worst move. Then wanting back out... and only to the Nets... then Mavs... then Nets again... now LA is ok...

I do thank him for us getting a new GM and HC though.

I guess he thought he could get his way and that the Nets would wait for him to get out of ORL even if it meant waiting till the summer of 2013. But they didn't wait. They used up their cap space, ending their leverage for forcing a trade to Brooklyn. Now all they have to offer Dwight is the MLE when he is a FA. Since Howard tried to hardball the Magic, the Magic countered and refused to talk to Brooklyn. It's coming down to a game of cat and mouse to see who caves in first.

Dwight does not want to be with the Magic in their first home game or worse not even their first home preseason game. He will get crucified. I guarantee his options will open up the nearer that day arrives. The Magic could care about that much less, that's why they have been patient waiting for the right offer to emerge.

the knicks were the best defensive team in the latter part of the season and that coincides with when melo returned from injury. he actually received a lot of praise for his much improved efforts on defense and on the boards post-injury and post-d'antoni

It's a shame, for a couple of years there it looked like the switch had flipped for him and he had "got it", then it went off just as quickly.
melo won a national championship at syracuse and upon entering the nba was immediately compared with lebron james. lebron is obviously the superior player but i feel the public and the media at times still compare the two and have lofty expectations for melo and his game.

yes he hogged the ball as a knick. but that was mostly under d'antoni and with an offensively inept starting lineup. shumpert, fields, chandler, stat. melo was the only scorer, defenses hounded him and the others can't make their own shots. and after woodson took the reins his mentality was noticeably different. your criticisms are exaggerated.

I loved Melo coming out and was hoping he'd be better than Lebron.

However, I still do not want him as my team's #1 option and do not want to have to run an offense through him. He may not be terrible at passing or as bad as people make him out to be as a black hole on offense, but it is his default position, so more often than not he reverts back to tunnel vision and chucking. When he's on, it isn't a problem usually, but he's not like a Kobe or MJ where he's consistently on his game.

I would rather see him play off a strong PG like Rondo or big man that can play an inside-out game like Pau, but I don't know how his game will react to not having the ball always run through him on offense.

Then with 3 top 5 picks on the team, the Thunder ended up with the 4th worst record in the league and got a 4th pick in the top 5.

It takes time for young teams to develop.
They had four top five picks but they also hit the jackpot on three of them. So far the only top five player who has worked out for the Kings is DeMarcus Cousins. I'd trade Tyreke for Durant, Westbrook or Harden in a heartbeat. The Kings missed on Tyreke, you can't miss.

It's cool, the Bulls had two top 4 picks in one draft and ended up with young Tyson Chandler and Eddy McCurry.

Chandler obviously turned out well as he is now, but his first couple years he was not worth a #4 pick. McCurry, as we all know, was only worth a lottery pick to the Knicks after they found out he was fat and lazy.

I can't think of any top 5 pick ever made by the Suns. Hell Amar'e is the only top 10 pick I can think of

Ah, my mistake, you are correct.

Still, what a glorious trade to the Knicks that was. I am still upset we traded prime Elton Brand for Chandler, though.

Oh, also, we drafted Lamarcus Aldridge #2 overall (the pick we received from New York in the McCurry trade) and traded him for Tyrus Thomas and Viktor Khryapa. That's another John Paxson win right there.

The Suns traded Loul Deng and Serge Ibaka for 2nd round picks and cash and Rajon Rondo for just cash

we also drafted Stephen Jackson, Nate Robinson, Marcin Gortat, Rudy Fernandez and traded them all for nothing

Rondo alone makes that team pretty close to a playoff team and it's a pretty damn good defensive team. too bad Phoenix threw it away.

Yeah, i think that's a low-seed playoff team right there. Good job, Sarver.

Also, i'm not sure why Franky Garcia is recruiting AK47 to the Kings.. he knows they play the same position, right?

I remember there was a period of the Suns trading away all their picks for cash. It was quite annoying to all the suns fans.

In all honesty, the Suns probably would not have picked those players at those picks. I guess regardless, it still sucks though.

Suns had a great run with D'Antoni, Nash, Joe Johnson and Amare while it lasted.

the whole 1 year of that?

Nash Marion Amar'e was much more the core of all of those playoff runs

The more I read Eric Gordon's comments the more obvious he makes it that he doesn't want to be in New Orleans. I can see a S&T being more an more likely. Something like Dudley, Fropez, Brooks and/or Marshall + picks. Maybe. Maybe not even that much.

Can't see the Suns trading Marshall, Suns brass is just way too high on him, but you can have all the Lakers picks

Ive never disliked Gordon but these comments have rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe I just really wanted to see what he and Davis could do. I dont think the Suns have much to offer for him, either, especially since Im pretty sure they intend to keep Marshall.

Could Gordon just end up taking the qualifying offer or is he stuck with a max deal now?

I think once you sign the offer sheet, you're getting that money. So he can't decide to just play the one year and become Unrestricted next year.

Dragic - Marshall
Gordon
Beasley - Dudley

Deron Williams says he was close to choosing Mavs but acquisition of Joe Johnson pushed him to Nets.
in the end, it was effectively Deron and Joe for all those expiring deals
