I'm glad we didn't give Anderson $36M. That's a lot of money for a three point shooter that plays out of position.

I don't see anything wrong with 9 million a year for him in a league where Nic Batum is going to make 11 and Jeff Green coming off an aneurysm is making 9. He's an elite shooter and he's a good rebounder too which no one seems to realize.

Two (or in this case, three) wrongs don't make a right, yo. Justifying his deal by comparing it to other horrible deals is illogical. Batum got massively overpaid, in large part because teams were looking to stick it to the Blazers. I really don't understand the Jeff Green deal, but i'd much rather give him $9M than Anderson who can do a few things well.

And i disagree with your assessment of his shooting, i don't think he's elite or anywhere near elite. He's good. And a solid rebounder. I guess to some he can be worth $9M but on this Kings team, that has Cousins/Robinson/Thompson, his only redeemable skill would be as a 3pt shooter.

Like...wasn't that the whole point of the new CBA? To protect teams from wasting money like this?

Well it just shows that that's what the market is. It seems like people just rip on every deal out there now, you have to pay someone.

And I don't see how he isn't elite. 40% on threes when you shoot 7 a game is pretty damn good.

Bingo. The fundamental problem with the NBA is that you have 30 teams and about 6-7 superstars.

The problem is that GMs are stupid enough to bid against themselves. They drive up the market price when they are the ones that control it, not the players. Who in their right mind gives $9M/year to a guy that didn't even play last season because his career was at risk? Was there even any market interest for him? Restricted free agency has driven up the price of players, which is great for the NBPA, not so much for the teams.

I'm glad the Kings have stood back. They've let the teams with cap space go out and punch each other silly, blow their cash and the rest of the players that are unsigned will have no leverage to bring up their price.

The problem is, when you spend just to spend, and you overpay for mediocre talent, you create a cap hell, so when a great player actually does hit the market, you don't have the funds to sign him.

The Knicks were the poster child of this for the past 12 years.

If my team is gonna suck or be mediocre, I rather have cap space while they suck so we can go out and grab a stud FA when we have the chance.

Or just suck so hard that you get the #1 overall pick.

Being a .500 team is the worst thing you can be in basketball. You're stuck in mediocrity with no way out.

Btw, it makes me happy in my pants that the rest of the league is taking notice of how awesome Cousins is. And he's getting more respect around these parts too. yayy. Also, you know you're a hard ******* worker when Kobe compliments you and endorses you. It annoyed me to no end to sometimes hear last year how he had a bad work ethic. smh.

Back in March i had emailed Simmons about Cousins being on the Olympic Team. Never got a response, but i hope that asshole goes back and re-reads it when they need someone to be eating glass down low in the paint this summer.
