Marc J. Spears @SpearsNBAYahoo
Free agent G OJ Mayo getting interest from Lakers, Chicago, Phoenix and Dallas and hopes to make decision in next 10 days, source tells Y!
if Mayo signs with LA for the MLE, I'm going to break lots of things. Chicago would be a great fit, though

**** Orlando! Hurry up and trade Dwight to Houston! If you want to rebuild then Houston is the trade to go. Can give 2 first round picks next year, and Rockets unprotected pick in 2014. Rockets cant trade their protected pick next year since Atlanta already has it. Along with those glorious ************* picks you can take Martin who is an expiring contract, Patrick Patterson, Terrence Jones, Royce White and Morris off our hands. Just do it baby do it!

After Dwight fails to resign, that unprotected pick in 2014 is going to be a lot more valuable eh?

Wont be a lock that he will walk. The same ******** was said about Deron Williams and look what happened there. And they didnt even bring in another star player. The Rockets will have enough cap room next year to offer another max contract and with Dwight being there who wouldnt want to team up with him? Rockets will bring talent in. Would love to see Dwight and Paul long term in Houston.

HAHAHA supposedly the Rockets are having trouble tracking down the Knicks management in person so they can present to them the contract offer that Lin signed. Apparently they refused to accept it at the team hotel in Vegas and also the Rockets sent someone to there door and called the hotel but got nothing. The Raptors are having the same trouble trying to get a hold of the Knicks to see if they matched Fields offer.

Darko is a **** rebounder.
My favorite Darko moment here was when he got .1 seconds of playing time to defend a lob at the end of the game and he injured himself.

You're right. I'm just confused ever since Bropez got a max contract. I'm still trying to wrap my head around that type of contract for a C who's only good for 6 boards per 36 minutes.

Isn't this why they have a league office?

He'd be a great fit with any of the above except the Lakers. Something tells me he's going to sign with Phoenix, though.

Marc Spears: Rockets found loophole that would cost them $8 million on third year of Lin offer sheet and Knicks $15 million. Luxury tax team NYK fear of matching Lin deal understandable when 3rd year of tough to trade contract would cost $15 million, source tells Y! Sports.
Jeremy Lin appears close to being a Houston Rocket with Raymond Felton to NY deal close to being done, sources tell Y!
Also, the Knicks didn't match Toronto's offer for Landry Fields

OJ mayo probably going to PHX, but he was one of my FA I really wanted the mavericks to get. Seeing as he wants a long term contract and we're signing 1 year deals our chances of signing him are slim, but there's still hope!

What kind of crazy goddamn loophole costs a team twice as much for the same contract?

There's no loophole :
- for the Knicks the actual salary is included in team salaries (if they match) and that salary is $15 million in year 3 ($5 million the first year and $5.2 million the second season)
- for the Rockets, it's the same saalry (average salary) all three seasons : $8 million.
It's the same for any RFA under the Arenas provsion

After perusing this thread, I've come to the conclusion that the NBA trade, free agency, and salary cap rules are confusing, moronic, and should be Nuked from existence. How in the hell can you guys keep up with this idiotic nonsense? It's worse than the NFL which is pretty bad.

I couldn't agree more. Especially after losing Jet, and needing some shooters, + missing out of on big free agents, Mayo was high up on my list and adding him and Collison to the back court would have been exciting. I wouldn't mind the long term contract either, we need to start finding young guys who will be around for awhile.
Mayo would have been a nice fit short term with Dirk and long term as we don't really have any young building blocks.
