I like the signing of Josh Smith. Between Pope and Smith, Dumars got the Pistons tougher to deal with. I know people are bashing the trade because they want to see Brody erupt, but the signing really isn't a bad one. Smith is getting Dumars back to what made him successful in the first place.
Brandon Knight is super young. Started right away at age 20. He'll be fine.
The thing with Detroit is that they were just about out of all their bad contracts and then they go and do this. They were set up to start developing a solid, young core. They had a dream situation developing with a $20m payroll in 2014-15 and only one hole in the lineup (3) with the rest beign filled by sub-25 year olds.
Josh Smith just mucks everything up. He doesn't fit there at all.
Knight might not ever develop into more than he is, but it shouldn't be overlooked that PG is the most difficult position to come in and play well at as a young player.
He shouldn't be playing PG in the first place, that's my biggest problem with him. They have a team that needs somebody to distribute the ball to the bigs in position to score and that isn't what he should be used for.
