Chris Paul's last 2 games:
26 points, 17 assists, 3 steals: 100-75 win over Spurs
27 points, 17 assists, 4 steals: 108-98 win over Lakers
Any questions?

Paul is the Nash of this year, he is the most important player for his team but the MVP normally goes to the best player on the best team

I find it hard to argue CP is more valuable to his team than LeBron. On a normal year, yes, but with LeBron the Cavs are bottom 5 in the league.

I think Chris Paul is the real MVP for this year, actually by a good margin. But I'd still give it to Kobe, and he's gonna win it. Sounds silly I know. He's never won an MVP and he's 29, been in the league for 11 years, plays on the premier west coast team..etc... Chris Paul will get his. I just don't see anyway CP3 will win this year, the Hornets have had like 3 games on National Television. The Hornets will have a lot of expectations next season and if Paul plays the same or better he will be there to win it.

Well my pick for MVP is Kobe, not LeBron. LeBron stats are great but he is posting them up against the East and the fact that they are barley over .500 in the conference doesn't help

I hate arguing for LeBron because it really makes me seem like a homer, but he's leading the league in scoring, the highest non PG in assists (more than Chauncey Billups) and pulling down 8 boards a game all while leading the league in 4th quarter scoring, 4th quarter comebacks and without him, the Cavs were 0-6...that's a pretty substantial resume. Also not he's ahead of Kobe in assists, points, and rebounds per game.

They aren't barely over .500...they're the 4 seed.

They are .561. That is barely over .500.
I think despite how well Lebron is playing and with the talent he does it with, Kobe is probably going to win it. Best player on the team who shares the lead in the ridiculous West.

If CP3 played in a bigger market and had as many nationally televised games as Kobe and Bron, I guarantee you he would be considered the frontrunner for MVP right now. The season he's having now completely dwarfs both of Steve Nash's MVP seasons. Kobe and LeBron are having great seasons, and T-Mac is the X factor right now, but CP3 has been the most valuable player to his team. The only good thing about the Hornets' insanely tough final stretch is that if CP3 keeps playing great and the team keeps getting wins against teams like San Antonio and Los Angeles, it'll be a nice end of the season boost to his MVP credentials.

They're 8 games over .500. That's not "barely".
LeBron is completely outplaying Kobe this year. Better in assists, points, rebounds, FG %. Most 4th quarter points and comebacks. His team is like a dead fish without him. Take away Kobe, that's still a playoff team.
This isn't the heisman. It doesn't automatically go to the best team. As Steve Nash showed the last few years, it's the player that means the most to his team, not just scores but makes his team better. And that's LeBron (Chris Paul does this too). It's just this year, he has the stats to back it up.
If you want to use the Eastern Conference argument, his teammates are also well below par, yet he still manages to dish out more assists than any other non-PG. Shouldn't that be a positive rather than a negative?
I could see a Chris Paul argument, as he seems to be a player who makes his teammates better, but LeBron is having an almost completely superior season than Kobe. He shouldn't be punished because Kobe has better teammates (I could see that if the Cavs were awful, but they're 8 games over .500 anda 4 seed).

And shooting percentage, efficiency rating, steals I believe, blocks, etc etc.
But I believe Jobe will win it.

Paul is definately in the discussion. It's a three horse race with him Kobe and Lebron. Personally I think Dwight Howard deserves consideration but whatever.

Suns were a top 3 seed each year dude, in the west. That alone makes it a feat. Thats whats important to the peopel is the team aspect and the Cavs are "decent". I say that with caution because the 10 seed in the west (Portland) could be the 4 seed in the East. Nobody deserves the MVP from the East because the East is the far inferior conference. For an example, see LA Lakers 2000 dynasty, Spurs dynasty, and last years finals. (Although it wont be that long of an example, since it was done in 4 games :))

All I gotta say is Kobe has been lead scoring since Shaq left and people gave him ****.. now, when he finally starts sharing the ball.. People jump on Lebron's nuts when he's the leading scorer playing on mediocre team.. yup, I said MEDIOCRE!

it's true...Ben Wallace is supremely overrated and the rest of the team is just a bunch of guys who play basketball just ok...Lebron is on an island in Cleveland and it will always be that way...and until he gets some decent role players or even a number two guy he won't win the MVP...
I just don't understand why the voters would give the MVP to a player on a team in the east who is the 4th or 5th seed in the conference who doesn't play good defense and has a horrible jump shot...

For the 8th time, LeBron's defense is MUCH improved and he's become a very good defender. Not elite like Kobe can be at times, but good nonetheless.

Who do we see in the running for most improved player?
Turkoglu looks like a lock here unless I'm totally forgetting about someone.

Chris Kaman
2006 Stats: 10.1 Points, 7.8 Rebounds, 1.5 Blocks
2007 Stats: 16 Points, 13.1 Rebounds, 2.9 Blocks
Though his team sucks...
