McGuffie is coming to Ann Arbor. Rich Rod re-hired Fred Jackson, the man who recruited McGuffie, and that will pretty much assure it. I will be absolutely shocked if McGuffie is anywhere else next season. Why would Pryor turn a blind eye to us? Michigan hasn't been in the mix since very early in the process. Now he's excited about us and we're #2 behind Ohio State. Even if he does go to OSU, which I suspect he will, it won't be a huge deal. We never had him in the first place and until last week, we never even thought we had a chance. Pryor choosing to go elsewhere is not a "lost recruit." Cissoko is still up in the air, but I'd bet on him staying at Michigan. All of the Michigan recruiting "insiders" believe he's going to stay with us. He recently canceled visits to Illinois and Tennessee and only has one more scheduled for Penn State.
The only guys I could see possibly leaving are Christian Wilson, Mike Cox, and Boubacar Cissoko and I think we keep BooBoo for sure. Like I said, nothing major.

At the end of this article it says:

Sources indicated Thursday that defensive line coach Steve Stripling also could be re-hired. Jackson said he was told two other assistants potentially could be re-hired.
|
I'd guess that the remaining assistants will be any combination of Soup, Stripling, Lefty, or English.

as already mentioned, Jackson was rehired so McGuffie is probably staying. but from all I've read is that McGuffie is as true blue as they come. The only way we lose him IMO is if RichRod says he doesn't want him.
I also don't think we lose Cissoko since A)He grew up a michigan fan and B)Illinois was our toughest competitor for him and he cancelled his visit.

If he sucks so much how come every hilljack from WV is cursing his name and essentially throwing a giant temper tantrum?
We're happy with him, WVU will likely revert to being a non-factor on a national stage as far as football goes.

everyones upset about how he handled the whole situation

He ran the 3-3-5 because he couldn't recruit talent to play any other defense at WVU and has to use it out of necessity.
Michigan on the other hand, can get the players to run any sort of defense it desires. If we do run the 3-3-5, it won't be because we have to.

the 3-3-5 is harder to recruit for----you have to have the athletes to run it
their defenses were better under nehlan and he ran a 4-3; casteel ran a 4-3, but rod made him switch to the 3-3-5
rod has an ego and was being overshadowed by fan favorite huggins
rod ran off one of the best oline coaches in rick trickett; he said he would return to morgantown (his hometown) if rod ever left; he might be coming back (depending on who the new coach is)

I have a feeling McGuffie will go to A&M now like most of his teammates, but I could be wrong.

According to Rivals, McGuffie has given Michigan a solid verbal.

I wonder if the hiring of Bill Stewart as head coach at WVU means Rich Rod won't get to take as many of his assistants as he'd like to. I believe Coach Stew has said he'd like to keep WVU's staff intact. Could get interesting.

Well, Tony Gibson has already resigned and I've heard from Michigan and West Virginia people that Calvin Magee is probably going to follow Rich Rod. However, it seems like Casteel is having second thoughts about leaving...

gibson is the only one to resign
casteel will prob stay; same with barwis if huggins gets his way
with rich's buyout covering stewarts contract, we're gonna offer magee more money to stay---and be able to call his own plays without being overruled
thats what im hearing

I think retaining two of the three would be a big deal. All three... amazing, but not probable IMO.
If I were Magee though, I'd want to get out of Rich Rod's shadow and be more than just an OC-by-title. I think he has that chance here on this staff.
My dad knows Barwis and loves the guy, I'd love to see him stay but everything I've heard has been leaning with him leaving. Hopefully that changes.

from todays dominon post (morgantown paper)
“I’d love to stay,” Barwis said. “I think West Virginia is in a great situation as far as where the program is. I love the state, it’s where my wife’s from and I’d love to be there next year. “I think this is the best thing that could have happened to the program. Coach Stew is a man who’s a proven leader, the kids respect him, coaching staff respects him, I’m happy for him and his family.”

On ESPN Radio right now, Stewart just said that WVU offensive coordinator Calvin Magee is going to go to Michigan.

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review and Pittsburgh Post Gazette, Mike Barwis and three members of his staff have resigned from WVU and are headed to Michigan. Considering this is from Pittsburgh, and not West Virginia, take it fwiw.

yea, well huggins will find a good one
you took all our offensive coaches, but we can upgrade by getting the app st oline and qb coach; some thoughts on the ones you took
rod smith (qb coach)---was gonna get fired from usf as the oc until rod brought him back; uncle lives in tampa, said no one liked him
magee---good playcaller; too bad rod changes the play 90% of the time
dews (wr)----seeing rods ego for the 1st time; it was only his 1st or 2nd year as a wr coach; rod got rid of one of the best for one of his "boys"
tall (safeties)---still undecided; good recruiter; ok coach
gibson (secondary)----sucks a coach; good recruiter; to quote former wvu cb aaron beasley (3rd round pick by jags; all-american sr year) "Clueless, the guy is just clueless. Our kids have no technique and are in desperate need of being 'coached up' ....".; that was a quote by him this summer

Other than Barwis, I'm not really too excited about any of the coaches coming over. I really wish we would've kept Lefty instead of getting Smith.

theyre all rods "boys"---if you know what im sayin
but lucky for us we have huggins who will basically pick the next s/c coach
and we're already looking at elliot (oline coach) and satterfield (qb coach) from app st; trickett (our former oline coach and one of the best in the country; left cuz of rod) said elliot is a top 3 oline coach in the country
plus stewarts a likeable guy, so we should get some quality coaches; plus they can come in, run the white/slaton/devine show, then the brown/devine/kerns show and greatly increase their stock as a coach; theyd be on the fast track to becoming hc

Bruce Tall and Tony Dews are the final coaches from WVU coming over. Michigan is reportedly set to hire Southern Miss Defensive Coordinator Jay Hopson, to take the same position. Also it is rumored that Michigan's former DL Coach Steve Stripling will be re-hired.
