Former West Virginia QB Barry Brunetti transferred to Ole Miss. He is a talented dude and is only a freshman, but we really are nuts with JUCO and transfer quarterbacks. Brent Schaeffer, Seth Adams, Snead, and Masoli have been our starting QB's since I've been here and not one of them signed with us out of high school. Nathan Stanley started a few games this year and might be our full time QB next year, we recruited him out of high school.

For anyone interested, former Iowa RB Brandon Wegher, who is transferring to Oklahoma, was denied elligibility to play the upcoming season and must sit the 1 year out after transferring.

Kinda sucks for him since he just sat out/used is RS season in 2010, but since he remained on scholarship and enrolled at Iowa, he couldn't use this as his "sit out" year. He will be a RS Junior starting in 2012 and have 2 years of elligibility left.

Former Tennessee CB Mike Edwards to Hawai'i.

As a Glenville (Ohio) High senior, Edwards received offers from Tennessee, Michigan and Illinois, among others. He signed with Tennessee, and played as a true freshman.

But in November of 2009, he was among four Volunteers arrested and charged on an accusation of armed robbery. The four were subsequently dismissed from the team. But the charges against Edwards were eventually dropped. He faces no criminal charges.

Edwards spent the past year at Coffeyville College in Kansas, where he attended school but did not play football. He has three years to play three UH seasons.

Edwards, who is 5 feet 10 and 170 pounds, can run 40 yards in 4.48 seconds and 100 meters in 10.4 seconds

I wouldnt really want him, for some reason I see an FCS school being a more likely landing spot for him.

I actually like him as a backup. He seems like he could be effective coming off the bench and be a Bruce Gradkowski type player for us.

He did play this past year actually and yes, he does have to sit out the 2011 season.

It doesn't matter if you played or not. If you were on scholarship at a FBS university and transfer to another FBS university, you must sit out that first year.

The only exception is when they grant you a hardship waiver or whatever, or the grad school rule unless they fixed that already.

Someone who is close to me & him both from UVA just told me he was going to William & Mary instead of UVA because he did not want to sit out. What does this mean for him in the rotation if he returns to Penn State?

I just don't understand why he won't go to UVA & sit out a year, if he goes there he can at least salvage what's left of his career and make a name, because UVA is on the rise. A UVA player told me that Newsome said he does not want to sit, but if he goes back to Penn State he has no chance. Joe Pa already showed that he gave up on him.
