Seahawks Place Franchise Tag on Josh Brown
Quote:
|
KIRKLAND - The Seattle Seahawks slapped the franchise tag on kicker Josh Brown Thursday afternoon, which means Seattle will tender a minimum of the average salary of the top five kickers in the National Football League, or a 20 percent salary increase, whichever is greater. That number is reportedly slightly more than $2 million.

Josh Brown doesn't deserve his own topic.

Maybe not, but a player getting the franchise tag does.

Damn I was gonna ask what Tubby has to say but he beat me to it. Most worthless franchise player ever.

I disagree. Josh Brown has been extremely valuable to the Seahawks, as of late.

The Pats did it with Adam Vinatieri a couple of years ago.

hehe...
I knew Tubby was going to be jumping out his skin lol....anyways, if you have a franchise tag sitting around and you might lose one of the top 3-4 kickers in the league you might as well use it. Better that than to lose him or get in a bidding war...

On October 23, 2005 while playing against the Dallas Cowboys he made 2 field goals over 50 yards, including a 55 yarder and a 50 yarder as time expired to win the game.
On October 15, 2006, he kicked a 54-yard walk-off field goal while time ran out against the St. Louis Rams to win the game 30-28. Although it would have been a 49 yard kick, Seattle was called for an illegal formation penalty. Unlike a false start penalty there was no 10-second run-off so Brown still had a chance to work his magic, albeit from 54 yards out. On November 27, 2006, he tied his career best by kicking four field goals in a snowy Monday Night Football game against the Green Bay Packers, and amazingly, all four field goals were made in the first half. On December 3, 2006, Brown kicked a 51 yard field goal to win the game against the Denver Broncos, making it his fourth game winning kick in the last minute in the 2006 season.

This is a good move, and anyone intelligent knows it. People are just saying it's stupid because
A) Either they don't know anything about the Seahawks
or
B) They are looking to bash Tubby
