Logan Mankins has been great ever since we drafted him, but he did not play very well in the Super Bowl. I wouldn't call him overrated from that one game.

A few Pats who are overrated:

Ellis Hobbs - Very inconsistent. Will look like a shutdown corner at times but will get beat quite a bit too. He also will give receivers a lot of space off of the line and give up 5-10 yard passes a lot.

Richard Seymour - Was not as dominant as usual this year, Ty Warren could be the better player now. I love big Rich and would like to think its from injuries, but many Pats fans would not mind to see him traded.

Ben Watson - Is very talented and very smart, but will make bonehead mistakes and be a nonfactor at times.

Which season is Carson's one good one?

The one with 32 TD's 12 INT's and 3800 yards... or
The one with 28 TD's 13 INT's and 4000 yards?

He wasn't very good this year, we all know that but it's not his fault our defense is trash. He's about the only one on this team worth defending.

Pure Cover CB, Newman is #1 in the league, maybe not best overall (INT numbers aren't great and insn't the best in run support) but as for just shutting your guy down, Newman is #1 right now. Mike Williams was one fluke play. Hall consistantly got burnt last season. He rebounded, but lets see if he can stay consistent. Finally Newman got in the PB.

I'm hoping you aren't calling Newman the best corner in the league. Not only that, but "making the probowl" is no longer a valid arguement. It just loses all meaning when Roy Williams makes it in.

Um because he's close to retirement? That may have something to do with it. No one gameplans for Strahan anymore. He's not over or underrated, he's an old dude about to ride off into the sunset.

I wouldn't call Mankins overrated. That was one game. Other than that, he was amazing.

Im going to say

-Derek Andersen
-AJ Hawk (in his current role, ive always felt he should play MIKE in the NFL, he's not a WILL, thats a waste of his talent)
-Asante Samuel
-Nick Mangold
-Chris McCalister (age hit him)
-Ryan Grant
-Jason Campbell
-Santana Moss
-Carson Palmer
-Jamal Lewis
-Dunta Robinson

im forgetting more

Strahan isn't overrated at all. He still demands double teams from plenty of teams. He's still the best run stuffing DE in the league, and one heck of a pass rusher. Against Dallas in the playoffs, HE was the one getting doubled, sometimes even tripled, and still breaking through and creating havoc. He's clutch, and makes clutch plays. Even at his old age, he still has it. He's not the 2000 Strahan, but who is? Strahan is far from overrated.

I think everyone now realizes that Roy Williams is awful, so I wouldn't call him overrated anymore.

Reggie Bush, honestly, Im starting to think he's become underrated. Its amazing how the bandwagon turns, theres a lot of people who are labeling him a bust already now. Im not ready to say that about him. I have a feeling he has a bounceback year after getting a dose of reality this year.

He can still be a good back, just not the game changer GOAT like RB that everyone was calling him on draft day.

For my own team, Id say

-Aaron Ross (he's great, but regressed at the end of the year, maybe im being too critical)
-Jeremy Shockey (we've yet to see him under this new scheme however, so who knows)
-Plaxico Burress (great, but theres a couple of WRs in the NFL id rather have strictly from a talent perspective)
-Brandon Jacobs (i soured on him. he's really just a short yardage back)
-Kawika Mitchell (he's a great complimentary player with intangibles, but he cannot be the feature Backer in an LB core. Also benefits from the scheme)

The most recent example of the fluidity of the consensus opinion:
  • Prior to the season - "Manning is better than Tom Brady."
  • Midway through the season - "Brady is better than Manning."
  • Prior to the SB - "Brady is the greatest of all time!"
  • Now - "He is overrated."

I just dont understand the Tony Romo comments.

He's been playing in the league for a year and a half and has performed about as good as you can in that time.

I don't think anyone has ever said he is better than Brady, Manning, Favre... or even Carson Palmer for that matter?

I dont think that is the general consensus at all. But I would like everyone on here to think about what their feelings would be towards the QB of their team if they had done what Romo has in his first year and a half. He has shown plenty of promise and basically just needs more experience/maturity.

Also, to the guy who said Leonard Davis is 49 Million dollars overrated -- Can you tell me what he hasn't done that the other Guards that got huge paydays have? In fact, can you tell me what he hasn't done that any other guard in the league has this year? He was second team All-pro and one of the most dominating guards in the league this year.

however,
Roy Williams sucks. Bradie James is also overrated.

Tony Romo has proven himself to be a very good quarterback. I don't believe he's overrated at all.

I thought he played really well for the Boys as an OG. He was destroying people every time I saw him.
