John Lynch anyone? I guess if Roy Williams is, at this point we should consider Lynch overrated also. I understand he's aged and isn't the same player he was, but in a way he still gets the same accolaids

Darny Scott and Carl Pickens were so overrated when they played.

Anyone who says Logan Mankins is overrated only watched one Patriots game this year. He carried Matt Lights ass all year...

He has never been considered a great or even an average pass blocker so that is no surprise. Not enough of a reason to call him overrated.

Carl Pickens was a beast in college. But like most UT receivers he fizzled in the pros.

Palmer's '05 is comparable to anything Brady did before this year? Really? He had a 100+ QB rating, more TDs and as many or less INTs than any pre-Moss Brady season. I'm not going to claim Palmer is better, but how the hell do any of those previous seasons by Brady compare to Carson's '05?

An inspired Randy Moss with one leg chopped off is still better than Chad Johnson, because Moss is by far the best WR in the league when he gives a damn. And let's not forget coaching and blocking. The Pats offense as a whole this year > Carson's supporting cast in '05, and if '05 is the best Carson can do, then he still had one of the better seasons by a QB in league history, so I think that's pretty damn high upside.

Here we agree. Watson hasn't lived up to his 1st round pick/workout warrior status. And Light has no business being selected All-Pro, but Mankins does and will in the future.

I think he's a very good player. But prior to this season, people were saying he'd make a push for being the best C in the game, and thats not true. He still has work to do in the run game. I think he'll eventually be one of the top guys in the game, but he's not there yet.
Overrated in a sense that a lot of people had unrealistic expectations of him. Im not saying he's not good, he's very good, but he's not one of the best...yet. He'll get there, but he's not there yet.

That was a typo. I meant '06, in which case Brady has had equivalent seasons.

Are you talking about Post-SB Eli Manning or Pre-SB Eli Manning? Because I do think that it is a little ridiculous to be putting him as lofty as Brady and Manning, but after the clinic he put on in the post-season a case can be made for him to be top-5 in the league.

Putting him in the top five is overrating him. Top ten maybe.
Palmer
Favre
Brady
Peyton Manning
Brees
Roethlisburger
Gerrard
Romo
McNabb
Bulger
Jay Cutler
I will take all of them over Eli Manning.

Care to elaborate? He had a terrible defense, Kenny Watson as a RB, and an offensive line ravaged with injuries this season. Put Manning or Brady in that situation, and see how they do.

If I remember correctly, this all comes down to people claiming Palmer is overrated. So when Palmer, in his third full season as a starter and second best season as a starter, had nearly identical stats (slightly better, even) to a guy that every one recognizes as a great QB in his second best season as a pro, how is Palmer overrated?

My ass, it wasn't. A season with 30+ TDs and a 100+ QB rating is absolutely phenominal.

I'll just say wow to those 5. Especially Gerrard and McNabb who is a shell of his former self.

Eli Manning had a great month, but I will need to see him play like that for an entire season before he'd crack top-10 in my books.
