Just following up for anyone interested. It is 19.99 for the PreseasonLive subscription. Gets you all preseason games streamed live through Sept 15.

Blacked out in local markets though so you're still screwed pf28.

Thanks for looking into that. I'll just have to call TWC and voice my displeasure.

Okay, so here is the low down on watching the game with TWC.

1) You watch Telemundo and listen to 620AM - Not bad

2) You wait till midnight tonight and watch the game on NFL Network!!!!! - Which is what I will be doing.

In regards to NFL.com, its not a bad deal. $20 - the games are archived so you can rewind and replay at your leisure. AND....the game for tonight will be available on nfl.com right after it is over, you cant watch it online during the actual game (if you are a local market).

Looks like Datone is going to be fine. Only expected to miss a couple days this week. Wow I can't remember the last time McCarthy had good news on an injury update.

That is good news and surprising at the same time since we rarely get positive injury news

And since they didn't have an update about an "ankle sprain" a day later, it made me worry that there was more to it...so yeah, definitely good to hear

DuJuan Harris and Cobb returned to practice as well

Usually "sprains" turn out to be torn ligaments for us.
From Harrell to Neal to Finley to Burnett to Ryan Grants foot, etc.

We need Datone. Healthy. Killing QBs.

James Jones on Tyrone Walker:

Walker has taken advantage of all the injuries at receiver to begin taking snaps with the No. 1 offense, and he followed up his five-catch night last Friday with a few more catches in team drills.

“He’s got strong hands, he’s a quick little dude, he’s got some nastiness to him. He’s not going to let anybody push him around,” veteran receiver James Jones said of Walker, who is listed at 5-10, 191. “He’s not 4.3 but he’s fast enough to get behind you. He just plays with a lot of confidence.

“He comes back to the ball, sticks his hands out, catches the ball well. I’m excited to see how he’s going to perform on Saturday again. One game doesn’t define you.”

Coach McCarthy had some positive remarks on Vice Young today, and Vince has been putting in the extra time to try and stick with the squad.

We have a hungry QB in Young, with superior abilities and intangibles to the other quarterbacks on the roster, and the team would be wise to see what they can mold Young into in case Aaron was to get hurt during the season.

I agree. Much more upside in the short term with Young than with either of those other two... I could never trust one of those two to win a game. Also are we going to see Lacy do something??... Lets see him in a game before we go assume he is the savior to the run game. Its too small of a sample size, believe me I hope he is and think he can very well be. We just need to see a few games outta him first.

Lacy will get his opportunities, but regardless of who is named "starter" there will be three backs rotating and playing in roles where they thrive...Lacy will be short yardage/red zone, Harris will be change of pace throughout the game and Franklin can be utilized during passing down, either as a receiver or stepping up in pass protection

The only problem with Young is that he can't throw.

I feel that's a common misconception when it comes to Vince's game. Following his rookie season he has been right around 60% completion percentage for his career. With his three quarters delivery he can become a little erratic at times, but he's certainly no Tim Tebow when talking about throwing motion/delivery. Vince possesses the arm strength to push the ball downfield, unlike Harrell, and on top of that he is a threat with his legs even on passing downs. He simply makes the defense work more.

Yeah if all Lacy does this year is improve this teams ability to pick up 2nd & 3rd down in short yardage or goal to go situations he'll be worth the pick. I don't know the numbers but just based on observation they have been putrid in those situations over the last two seasons.

Agreed. I just want Lacy to be healthy in late November - February. I would rather see the Packers bring him on slow, and have Harris and Starks carry the load early in the season.

On a side note, outside of Bulaga and Tretter, I feel like our injuries have been pretty minimal thus far. It would be nice to get Casey Hayward back for at least the last week of preseason so he has two weeks of practice before the first game.

Jordy is out at least until September 9th.
They say Cobb's bicep will bother him for quite some time.
Never heard how bad or long Ryan Taylor was hurt.

Dan Carpenter?

Quote:
Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland maintained all offseason that Dan Carpenter and rookie Caleb Sturgis would stage a training camp battle to become the team's starting kicker. That battle is over.

Carpenter has been released, the team announced.

The move comes as no great surprise, considering Carpenter's prohibitive price tag. He was due $2.675 million in 2013, more than Sturgis -- Miami's fifth-round draft pick -- will cost over the next four seasons.

Carpenter needed a white-hot training camp to keep his job. He hit a pair of field goals against the Dallas Cowboys in the preseason opener, but didn't attempt a kick in Friday's 27-3 win over the Jaguars. Sturgis, meanwhile, nailed on a 58-yarder against Jacksonville.

Making the news especially raw for Carpenter, The Miami Herald reports his wife "is due any moment" with the couple's first child.

Carpenter -- now one of the better kickers on the open market -- shouldn't be out of work for long. For the baby's sake, we hope he finds another gig pronto.
-NFL.com

I really wanted to draft Sturgis. They didn't need a new kicker like we did, they still took him and think they have upgraded.

I think we can too.

Carpenter is an upgrade over Crosby; hopefully we explore bringing him in

Yes please. Carpenter would be an upgrade over BOTH Crosby and Tavecchio

It's not really TT's MO though so I don't see it happening. Wish it would though. Enough of this kicking competition between 2 guys who shouldn't be starters on any roster....just bring in Carpenter and they instantly have one less position to worry about

I don't know. I felt Crosby was basically on TT and McCarthy's bulletproof list until the family scrimmage. I think that was the moment they decided to move on, either with Tave or a FA. Carpenter would be fantastic.

Looks like Lacy could be ready to go against the Rams. Anxious to see him in some game action. Even if only preseason.

I'd rather he be held out. Let him play a bit next week in the important #3 preseason game back at home vs. the Seahawks.

Give him another week of rest. No need to rush something that lingers.

Feature Starks & Green & Pease.
Keep Lacy, DuJuan, and Franklin freshed up.

Donald this morning on ESPN Mike & Mike in the Morning:

Said Driver: “We’ve always said that the quarterback is the one that needs to take the pressure off everyone else. If a guy runs the wrong route, it’s easy for the quarterback to say, ‘Hey, I told him to run that route’ than for the guy to be like, ‘Well, I ran the wrong route.’ Sometimes you ask Aaron to take the pressure off the guys so we won’t look bad, but he didn’t want to do that. He felt like if you did something bad, you do it. But I think that’s the difference. You want that leadership, and I think sometimes you may not feel like you got it. You have to earn that respect at the end of the day, and I think that’s what Greg was probably referring to.”

However, Driver added that “no one knows exactly what happened between those two. I didn’t see anything during the season; I didn’t see anything after the season. But you just never know, you never know what types of things happen between them.”

When asked if Rodgers is a nice guy, Driver said: “He’s a nice guy. I think that’s what you have to respect. I played with him five years so I was able to experience everything he went through. I saw when he first got drafted, he came in with a chip on his shoulder in that draft, and it shouldn’t have been Alex Smith [taken No. 1 overall]. That’s the way the guy is. I’ve always told Aaron, ‘Don’t forget where you come from because the people are the ones who put you on that pedestal. You didn’t put yourself there.’ I think that’s what we learning now. I’m not saying he’s a bad guy, I think he’s a great guy. I’m friends with Aaron.”

I really have no idea what to take from that. It sounds like DD was just trying to pander to all sides.
