That's the scary thing.
Minnesota doesn't want a receiver that has talent.
Good for the Jags. If the jags don't like him, they don't have to play him. a 7th is fine. If he impresses. He might be okay enough to be that fourth receiver. If he's got the dropsies. No big loss.

1. Better than nothing, right? Plus I'd like an additional 7th round pick this year, to make sure you get a guy you don't want to lose in UDFA. I think you could pick up a solid guy in the 7th.
2. Earlier in the thread it was discussed as being conditional to higher pick, assuming Williamson puts up good numbers I would think.

I think the point that has been missed a touch that Swagger was trying to make is that even though this is being looked at as a 'well we only lost a 6th round pick' move it may be different when teams actually hit the field again and Williamson lets a sure fire game winning td/1st down etc fly through his hands. That's when it becomes less about which player (who probably wouldnt make the team anyway) the jags missed out on but more about the player they traded for may have just cost them more than any 6th round pick could have.
I'm not saying it's right or wrong but it is slightly more than 'we're only giving up a garbage pick'. I personally liked Williamson and wanted nothing more than for him to catch on with us, but now that's over just gotta wish him the best and move on.

if he doesnt catch the ball in practice he might never see the field to get the chance to drop any balls, he isnt going to be inserted as a starter off the bat...If he can catch in practice they will give him a shot.

i dont think it would be conditional seeing as how the pick is more than likely this year, and there hasnt been official word on what the pick is (tho am sure its a 6th) we wont officially find out until Friday....as a Viking fan, im hoping and praying nightly that we found some way to squeez a 5th out of Jax

He would have been cut anyways, guaranteed.
Spielman should win Exec of the Year for getting a draft pick, no matter how low, for Williamson.

It's a 6th rounder, with the possibility of becoming a 5th or 4th on production.
I'm not as opposed to the trade as I was before. He has that ever-elusive "potential," which has some basis due to his speed. A 6th rounder is a minimal investment. The question is if he even amounts to anything, which I have grave doubts about.

I think for a 6th it's not bad. He will obviously have a better QB situation in Jacksonville. Northcutt is really kicking himself right now for that drop. They may have just traded for his replacement.

Didn't matter who our quarterback was; Williamson rarely saw the field.

I'm sure he did at some point, that's how he was able to drop all those passes, LOL.

You will be missed Hot Hands. I am being serious when I say if I was offered Ryan Leaf for Troy Williamson I take Ryan Leaf every day of the week. See Williamson if fast and therefore he has potential and it is very hard to cut him. When you put him in the game and try to capitilize on that potential he single handidly losses games.

it sucks that Minny spent a top 10 pick on him....I think he will do well in Jax...no expectations...he is now essentially a sixth round pick and I don't think the coaching staff will expect anything out of the ordinary from him...they will work on his hands throughout the off season and we'll see how he does in pre-season...
I think he'll be the slot guy, him and Matt Jones...

how am I setting myself up for disappointment?
I'm not going to hold him to his draft status...he's just another receiver with great speed to me...trust me, I have no faith in Jacksonville receivers, just so I'm not let down...this is why I love Reggie Williams... I never expected him to catch 10 td's this past season...and now I will hold him to a standard all his own...
williamson can come in and play football and not worry about being the number one guy...

If they get Williamson and move Matt Jones to QB their WR corp will be the worst in the NFL
