Default Overlooked Units in NFL History

I was thinking about this earlier, what are the overlooked/underrated units in NFL history?

Some units that come up in my mind are:

-The 80s Bears offensive line
-The 90s Cowboys defense
-The 84 49ers defense
-The 96 Packers defense
-The 80s Eagles dline

theres gotta be more, but im drawing a blank. history buffs, chime in.

An early 90's Saints LB core. They ran the 3-4 and had all four guys make the Pro-Bowl, the only time that has ever happened.

1990's buffalo bills offense

Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed Jim Kelly

geez how many times has Andre Reed been nominated for HOF and didnt get in because of a not-as-good player?

The Hogs.

One of the most dominate lines in NFL history, none of which are in the HOF.

i was considering mentioning them, but any defense that has a coined nickname probably isn't that overlooked. they are overlooked, but not as much as the aforementioned units.

and guys, we're talking about units that no one really talks about. the HOGs, and the Bills offense does not fit into that category. The Bills are known for that high powered offense, its not overlooked or underrated. The HOGs are considered one of the best olines in NFL history (in my opinion the best oline ever), thats not overlooked (unless youre a HOF voter).

HOMER ALERT

Not really sure what everyone's opinion is on the Bucs defence of the early 00's, but I think they should be up there with some of the best defences ever.

New York Sack Exchange. One of the few bright spots in Jets history. 0 in the Hall (although only Klecko really deserves it).

The Cleveland Browns as a whole from 1946-1955. (105-17-4). 10 straight championship games and 7 championship wins. Some people forget that the Browns used to be dominant.

The Browns running game in the 80's. Both Kevin Mack and Earnest Byner ran for over 1,000 yards in the same season. If it wasnt for the "fumble" or the "drive" the Browns might have some rings to brag about. Those rings alone would have kept Al Lerner from moving the team in the late 90's. Which in turn the Ravens would not exsist right now. Maybe the Browns would have had Ogden or Lewis? Which in turn might have lead to another super bowl?

If only.....

I would say the Bears offense of the late 30's/early 40's with Sid Luckman doesn't get it's due. Not only is the QB in the HOF, but so is 4/5 of the offensive line.

In more recent terms, I'd say the Chiefs defenses under Hank Stram were really good. Same with the Vikings teams under Sid Gillman. They were the original Buffalo Bills, except they actually played in a tough conference.

Panthers 03 ST unit doesn't get any credit for the Team's superbowl run but deserves it more than the offense imo.

Only a 12 year history doesn't leave much for me to chime in.

I think I'd say they are relatively overlooked. They did the best job slowing down the Rams in that NFC Championship game in 1999-2000 season. On a related note, God Bless Ricky Proehl.

The whole eagles D in the early 90s, first in the league against both the run and the pass.
