Is Boller the Answer ???
So now Steve McNair is gone... do we just hand the keys to the bus to Kyle and let Troy work in slowly ? Do we draft Matt Ryan and give all three of them a legit shot at winning the job with open competition in TC ? Do we draft Joe Flacco in rd 2 and let Kyle and Troy battle it out this year and Flacco and Troy can fight it out next year ?
Or do we sign a Veteran to Back up Kyle and Troy and let him push the 2 younger QB's we have and wait till next year to draft a QB when the QB class is better and we have more options ??

Boller is not the answer and we've seen him prove that over his whole career. He's more suited as a career back-up, not a starter.
Troy Smith will the league MVP next season. :D

I would give Troy his shot before giving Boller anything. I would say bring in a veteran and let the young guy have a shot.

What if we could bring in a Trent Green (if we could get him cheap) or how about we bring back Vinnie ??? He was a favored son in Charm City and was a pro bowler ???? He could teach the young pups a thing or two and be a leader...

Trent Green is with the Rams.
Vinnie is like what? 50943827 years old, he's probably older then Matt Stover!

I don't think Boller is the answer. He's shown that over the past 5 seasons. I think you need to go into camp with an open competition. May the best man win(or the least worst).

Even when Boller played good(New England game), he still finds a way to screw it up(New England game)...
Id let Troy Smith start this year, the worst that can happen is you end up with a top 5 pick next year, whatever QB you draft this year can learn the system, and have a top 5 pick to put some weapons around him and who knows, maybe T. Smith plays lights out with his job on the line, happens all the time.

BTW another reason to hate McNair, why did you wait so long to announce this we could have made a play on a veteran QB. Hell a guy like Mark Brunell is a great locker room guy who could offer invaluable advice to Kyle and Troy, but because we didn't know we'd need him we lose out on him to the Saints.

Wow you really hate McNair? At least he didnt drag his retirement out like some other veteran QB that I know...Boller has been playing long enough he qualifies as a veteran on the team, just draft a rookie, if you want experience go with Boller he's a decent stop gap...Its not like McNair kept this going for a few years and on into the season.

Troy Smith is the starter. I cant stand Boller. Im fine with any 2nd round QB we take.

Open competition with the best QB getting the starting job. IMO they'll go with Boller through the pre-season. Troy Smith will get some playing time though. Of course there is always the slim chance of the Ravens trading for a veteran QB.

Didnt know Trent signed on with the RAMS my bad.. I like Boller don't get me wrong.. but he just isnt a superstar answer to a team that has a short window with some of the veterans that we have to get to the SB... we can't keep starting over at QB we need a young QB that can come in and play.. not sit on the sideline for 2 years and learn the system.
Lets see if Troy can carry a Team and draft another QB in the 2nd or 3rd round..

I think we should really let Boller and Smith fight it out in TC and use the 1st rounder on another need such as OL or CB, then in the 2nd round take a QB.

Alright I know everyone is waiting for my answer on this one so here goes:
Open Audition at Training Camp!
Right now we can only debate about Kyle or Troy and with that said lets see who is better at the end of training with Cam's new offense.
Matt Ryan isn't going to fall to us and trading up for him is going to be too expensive and risky. Frankly I'm not even sure what veterans are available in Free Agency so whats the other alternatives? The CFL? The AFL? Stock boys in Iowa? Hell is there a buyout clause in Ryan Leaf's contract with Texas A & M? Screw it, Mark Clayton is going to be our QB!
TRIPLE OPTION FTW!!!!!!!!!

yeah if McNair would have retired eariler with Farve, you could have gotten a vet, since you already have a young qb in T.Smith. No reason to draft another young qb on to the roster, unless his name is Clot Brennian.

Boller is garbage, it is obvious that if he is the answer we are in trouble, he is Jake Plummer like except inconsistent. I would like Smith to be the answer I think he can do it but I agree that we go into training camp with a open race. And we can sit back and see what happens.

Either the FO is really high on Smith or they are going to try their damndest to land either Matt Ryan, Brian Brohm, or Joe Flacco.
