This standing by Ozzie is ******** and you need to realize it. The whole rational for trading up for Flacco was to beat other teams to getting him. Well that was bs considering another QB didn't go until 56 and guess what missing out on Flacco was fine since Henne is just as good if not better. And this nonsense with Rice is beyond comprehension. First of all RB wasn't that big of a concern and we have much bigger needs. Ozzie is a moron and his run of luck is clearly over.

That is absolutely ridiculous! There was no way we were going to get two first round picks from Jacksonville. St. Louis wasn't even going to get an extra #1 pick when we were in talks with them about trading up. We go the right value for the #8 pick.
Also please stop with the talk that Flacco wasn't going to be taken until the 3rd round. An unnamed team tipped the Ravens off about the Jets trying to trade back into mid round one for Flacco. Teams wanted him, make no mistake about it.
Now the Ray Rice pick was simply best player available. He was their highest rated player at that point. The Ravens like always stayed true to their board.

That was my theory all along, you dont trade back then up just for kicks and giggles, Flacco was our guy and we gave up a 3rd and a 6th just to make sure we got him. Our original plan was to get Flacco at 26, but then we felt he wouldnt make it to 26 so we went to 18 just to make sure.

People are turning on Ozzie after all he's done for us? Come on now, I'm sure that Ozzie and the coaches see something in both Rice and Flacco. Now that Rice and Flacco are Ravens, I'll be cheering for them no matter what. We usually don't go for needs in the first 2 rounds, we always go BPA. But now, Day 2, I expect need picks to be the one's that are made.

We always go BPA, we can still end up w/ Godfrey and Doucett in the 3rd tommorow we will need to see if Ozzie calculated riskes pay off.

Yeah because the Jets sure did swoop in to nab Henne or Brohm right after we took Flacco. All rumors are bunk during the draft and the Ravens got played. Pathetic, horrible first day.

Maybe they were not high on Henne or Brohm. You never know and you never will know, all we can hope is that Flacco fills into the potential that Ozzie felt he would.

Exactly! The Ravens traded back for the sole purpose of taking Flacco at #26. They knew there was a possibility that some team may try to jump ahead of them for Flacco. There was a reason why the Ravens got 2 #3's instead of one 2nd rounder from the Jaguars. They explored everything that could happen and came out with the guy they wanted along with an extra 3rd round pick.

We usually go BPA except for today apparently. There's no ******* way you can say Ray Rice was the BPA. Not happening.

Obviously the Jets didn't feel Henne or Brohm were on the same level as Flacco. It looks like most of the NFL felt the same way.

Obviously the Jets rumor was bunk. Why you ask? Oh wait they just spent a 2nd last year on a QB not to mention they still have Pennington. The Ravens got played plain and simple.

it was there 2nd two years ago, plus he had a 5 TD and 10 INT, they could have easily looked for a QB.

I'm glad you know everything. I guess NFL Network just puts out false reports. And why even bring up Pennington and Clemmens? The Jets obviously don't think very highly of those 2 if the were planning to trade up for Flacco.

Yeah Adam Schefter was being shown for the tool and rumor monger he is all day. Didn't you pay attention?
Plus hello, most information released on Draft weekend is bogus. The Rams confirmed that Chris Long was going to be the 2nd pick and Schefter was still reporting that the Ravens were still in talks for the pick. Right after he said it, Eric DeCosta was quoted as laughing at the report saying how we hadn't called the Rams.
Welcome to the world of disinformation.

Yup QB was the entire problem for the Jets last year, nothing else. Get a clue.

Did you read any of the stuff on BR.com? Everything said we had one discussion with the Rams and it didnt lead to much and Suggs wasn't involved, but then NFLN has Suggs goin to STL for#2 it was ridiculous. NFLN was a rumor monger all day long and did nothing but promote lies and garbage.

No, he hasn't and now with Ray Rice, I doubt he will. But we could bring him back to battle it out with Cory Ross and PJ Daniels to the the Raven's 3rd RB on the roster. I'm thinking that PJ Daniels will end up being the 3rd RB on the roster with Cory Ross on the practice squad. I'm sure Musa will sign somewhere.

Today really wasn't that horrible. I mean think about it, I doubt the FO was targeting Mike Jenkins, though I would have loved him. The FO gets the guy they want, a back to pair with Willis and pick up an extra 3rd & 4th. All that we lost was a 6th Rounder.

Can Cory be placed on the Practice Squad anymore? Not only that, some team would pick him up if we cut him. But I did find the reason for the Rice pick:
Coincidentally, Rice was previously coached by new Ravens offensive assistant Craig Ver Steeg, who was formerly the running backs coach (2007) and offensive coordinator (2003-06) at Rutgers. Ver Steeg said that Rice would be a perfect fit in Baltimore.
“He is really the type of player we are looking for,” said Ver Steeg. “He embodies the things that John [Harbaugh] and Ozzie [Newsome] talk about for the players we want in Baltimore.”
Thats from BR.com
