If you're just going be quality of depth like the thread starter clearly is gotta mention the Gmen, Plax, Toomer, Smith, Tyree, and two busts in Moss and Mario, not even mention our non wr receivers, Shockey, Boss and Bradshaw.

I didn't count Clark since technically he is a TE, but yes they are great for creating mismatches.

What did Tyree ever do besides ST and the Superbowl Catches?

Nothing, but he is out there alot. I am guessing alot of his routes he runs is what we called window dressing, meant to open up other holes for guys like Toomer and Smith, usually on his side when we run Trips formation. He is the 4th WR, so barely contributes, especially since we are not a spread offense team.

I think that as far as starting duos go, my ranking is:
Cards
Lions
Patriots
Browns (K2 is like a WR)
Bengals
Steelers

Its just the starting 2, I'd go:

Patriots (I know some people think Welker is overrated, but if you just count Moss Patriots are still high on this list lol)
Cardinals
Bengals (HOMERPICKZLOLZ)

If its the entire depth chart:

Green Bay
Patriots
Colts

It has to be the Bucs. I mean look at this.
WRs

#1- At the one spot we have the ageless wonder Joey Galloway. He continues to put up 1000 yard seasons despite all the gray in his beard. It is also rumored he can still run a 4.05 forty yard dash......backwards. He is living (not for long) proof that just being fast can get you a spot on a roster.
#2- Coming in at the number two spot we have the best blocking receiver in the league. Ever since becoming an offensive black hole after a stellar rookie season, Michael Clayton has amazed fans with his self proclaimed "unparalleled" blocking ability. So much that he thinks that it is ok to attack the head coach whenever he (Clayton) is required make a catch on a play designed for him. A fear of dropping the ball? Hell no everyone knows that Michael only blocks...receivers are paid to block, not catch.

Will he return to his rookie form where he had over 1000 yards? Its a contract year, of course he will.
#3- Does it matter? The number three receiver only had 18 catches in Gruden's system last year. Though recent rumors have stated that future hall of famer Antonio Bryant is making noise at mini-camp.
#4- Warrick Dunn, all he will do is catch in Tampa, might as well put him here.
#5- Chris Simms, He has another man's initials tattooed on the back of his calfs.....I'll just assume he receives.
TEs
#1- The Rapist formally known as Jerramy Stevens. Would you want to cover a should-be felon? He will put up big numbers for sure. He will be a big target in the red zone...and a target for cautious fathers in school zones. I can't post a picture of him here due to copyright laws but I found someone that shares certain tendencies with him.

#2- Ben Troupe, University of Florida product. What else is needed to be said? Everyone knows that offensive prospects from Florida always pan out. See: Jacquez Green, Rex Grossman, and Derrick Gaffney.
#3- Speaking of Florida products, Tim Tebow. The soon to be undrafted free agent will try to stay local and play for The Jags but the offensive genius Jon Gruden will convince him otherwise. While he has all of the physical tools Gruden covets at QB his lack of experience in a "genius offense", lack of mechanical "flawlessness", and him not being a geriatric will push him towards a skill position.

I think each tier is pretty much equal, personal preference

Detroit
Green Bay
----
Arizona
Cleveland
----
Cincinnati
New England
Indianapolis

Moss is probably the best WR in the league right now, but he's their only good receiver. Welker is a good #3, but he gets way too much props since he wouldn't be a starter on most NFL teams.

Wes Welker is the perfect slot WR. You ask your slot to stretch the field horizontally, and Welker does that better than anyone.

Gaffney/Jackson can provide the possession catches. You couple that with Moss stretching the field vertically with Welker stretching it horizontally, with Watson stretching the seam...and you have a lot of space to fit that football through those windows.

Its gotta be the Patriots.
Moss and Welker is all New England has! Moss is the best WR in the game right now but that does not give New England the best receving corp. Welker i agree is a great slot WR but thats all he is a "slot guy" not a #1 or !2 just like the other WR's on the team he gets less attention because of Moss. Welker is the only WR that would be good if moss were not on the team.

Without Moss the Pats WRs would be a joke

Welker is a slot WR, he would be a slot WR for everybody, even if he was the most talented WR on a team's roster he would still play slot...Nobody is going to line him up on the line outside vs a #1 corner, people call him overrated because he cannot do that, but that's not how you utilize him...When he is working out of the slot he knows how to get open, find the soft spot in a defense, and is blazing fast after the catch, not to mention running after the catch skills...So if you mean he wouldn't be a starter by saying he won't be the 1 or 2 then your right, but you don't get slot WR's no matter how good, and play them outside...Randle El got that huge contract and played the slot in Washington, even though he was the 2nd best Wr on the team, your seriously underrating how good of a slot WR Welker is.

He's replaceable. You could find a lot of receivers to play in the same system and put up similar numbers.

No one cared about him when he was in Miami, and now he goes to the team with the best #1 WR, top QB, great pass blocking OL and celebrated O Coord and it's Wes Welker that is now amazing? I would have to think the scenery has something to do with it. I'm not saying he's a bad player, but there are tons of receivers in the NFL just like him that no one talks about because they don't play for the Patriots.

Actually Wes Welker was pretty decent in an awful Miami Offense, thats why the patriots traded for him

I would have to think the scenery has something to do with it. I'm not saying he's a bad player, but there are tons of receivers in the NFL just like him that no one talks about because they don't play for the Patriots.
I don't think welker is a "replaceable" player. He is a phenomenal slot WR, there is no one in the league that comes close to what he does in the slot. He would do well on any team that uses 3 and 4 WR sets. Yes, he it does help him that Moss is on his team to take some of the attention away from him but as we saw last year if you don't focus on welker as well he will just kill you. I would love to have welker on my team because he is such a mismatch in the slot and you must account for him on defence which helps the other players get open and yes that includes Moss too.
