Bowman played a year longer than Nelson and only had a couple more yards than him. Nelson was a track champion in high school, he did about as well as everybody thought he would do in the combine.

How is a slow-footed receiver who is slow in and out breaks and has questionable hands the #1 WR in the draft? Further, if he was so talented, why would no team take a chance on him since he wasn't even drafted? What do they have to lose? If teams are willing to bring in Pacman Jones, Tank Johnson, Leonard Little, Ray Lewis, Chris Henry, Jamal Lewis, etc. why would they not take a flyer on a UDFA like Bowman if he's the best receiver in the class?

I edited my post at the end. my intranetz is acting up.

Also does nothing to compare him to those guys. Most had their troubles after they got drafted. Which in this case makes it irrelevant. Furthermore they didn't take a flyer because he was lazy. He's faster than a 4.75. You can't tell me watching him play he's a legit 4.75. He also has good hands I mean 60 rec. a year you have to have good hands. He didn't luck out.

Anyway i'm done for the night. just remember to wipe Jordy's love ooze when he's done.

There have been plenty of players who were drafted despite much more serious issues than what Bowman did. If you're a 1st round talent, somebody is going to at least take a flyer on you as a UDFA.

His hands are questionable. Look at Terrell Owens. He has questionable hands and he catches a ton of balls. It doesn't negate the fact that he loses concentration a lot.

As for Nelson, he's a good WR especially in the weak class this year. I just can't believe you're arguing that a guy that is playing in the CFL this year was the #1 WR. Obviously he wasn't or he would be getting ready for NFL training camp right now as a first day pick.

So wait...first you claim that he is the number 1 receiver if he doesn't get arrested. Next, after players with character concerns and arrests (many prior to their respective drafts) are brought up it is because of his laziness that he wasn't drafted?

The only way I can see your logic working is he became lazy because he was arrested?

Also, way to try to rip on the Jordy Nelson love when he had not been mentioned at all in this thread until you brought him up. Please keep in mind that it was not our hype that caused Nelson drafted in the 2nd round and Bowman to go undrafted. While it's certainly possible for them to be proven wrong, the people in the NFL obviously see something you don't.

Adrian Arrington got drafted. He had a lot more problems and a lot less production than Bowman.

Take away the 73 yard bomb and it was a pretty average game...

People shouldn't be getting too hyped over this yet, he may have just gotten lucky with the big play in an inferior league against inferior corners.

So if an NFL team wants him does he enter the draft next year or is he a free agent?

He's free for all, depending on his contract situation in Canada. But yes, as soon as you enter the draft once and go through the whole process, if you're UD'ed, you're a FA.

I also watched the game and Bowman is slow as molasses. His long TD was far more conducive of a CB who couldn't tackle because he had absolutely no problem catching up to him even though Bowman had a huge lead. He would get no separation in the NFL with its much smaller playing surface and even faster players. He looked far more like a TE on the play than a WR.

He looked real slow all game and pretty much man handled the corner to get the TD. You can see the it here http://www1.cfl.ca/index.php?module=videofb&func=view

Click "EDM at SSK- June 28" and it's at 171 if you don't want to watch the rest of the vid.

You can't do that. He did in fact make that play in that game, so it must be counted as part of his game.

Duh?
My point was that the stats could be skewed and the sample size is small. Now that I have heard that the corner did infact catch up to him, but couldn't make the tackle, I think it is safe to say that he is still a bum but he is playing in a jokers league.

What is so duh about that?

It's duh because it's the CFL. Of course he's feasting on terrible CBs in that league. As for the TD, he made the play. It's like saying a QB had an average game except for like 3 or 4 plays if he has a 4 TD game.

He just looked average on that play, nothing special. He could probably make it as a pass catching TE in the league.

H-Back in the NFL. Doesn't have to excel at blocking, doesn't have to run WR routes and can be matched up against LBs and safeties.

Sure a 4.75 isn't fast for a h-back for todays standards, but they get open using different skills that are a better fit for his game, head fakes, using his body to shield and finding open spots.

Might not happen the way he originally wanted it to but he will in fact make it somehow to the NFL whether as a receiver or a pass catching TE. Just too talented and I've always felt that way about him besides all the off the field issues.

He doesn't even NEED to play in the NFL, guys like Charles Rogers or Peter Warrick can't get a job anywhere right now, if Bowman can stick with a CFL team and put up games like this I don't think he, nor does the team care how he looked or how inferior they are...They pay decently, and he still gets to do what he loves to do, if he keeps his performance up he will get a pay raise, and he should be happy with that type of opportunity.
