Depends, I will take the 2nd and hope there is a deep class. Burden is on you guys to do something now. We cashed in this past year, so the fans and media is off our back, but now it's up the Saints to now cash in and make something special of all this.

Next year's class is much deeper at the positions that we are more interested in (DT, OL, and SS), so I'm much happier with a 2nd round next year rather than this year.

I like the move for both teams he didn't want to be there and they needed a TE win win.

I don't think Reese was ever looking at Tracy Porter, he doesn't fit our scheme.

And come to think of it, Reese made a better move getting picks for this upcoming year since its deep in our positions of need, in particular, DT.

both sides did the right thing. neither got hosed really.

Bush cant carry an entire load, but yeah Teams have to respect the entire field now with Shockey, which should open some lanes.

Hahaha problem is I keep the same sn, so I don't forget it on the other MBs. Not to mention, it's not like I love shockey, but the first and 2nd usernames didn't get validated due to the backlog in the pending list, so this went through. Can't really change it now. Ah well, we still have people with Kerry collins, Ike Hillard, and Jason Sehorn usernames. Ah well, I still think his tenure for us was successful.

Another point we're all missing:

It seems that the Giants initially wanted to trade Shockey and get Taylor out of it.

This tells me that the Giants are very much interested in keeping a 4 DE rotation going even with the retirement of Strahan, and it would not surprise me anymore if the Giants were to go after another DE in the draft early again.

There were already reports that the Giants wouldve taken Phillip Merling if Phillips wasn't available. This confirms those reports.

I like Shockey to the Saints, they aren't going to waste his receiving capability by blocking as much as he did with the Giants. He's going to tear up the division.

I thought this same thing, especially if the Saints return to the playoffs, but it is still a very good return. Especially considering the awkward situation between both parties.

I didn't mean Tracy Porter was going to be a Giant, but merely we took him with our second rounder that could have been traded for Shockey in this year's draft. I didn't bat and give in with the Giants wanting Roman Harper or giving up a 2nd/5th for this year. I do agree that both teams won (it was obvious that Shockey & NYG wasn't going to work out), but I liked how Loomis held his ground.

He was the 27th pick of the 2007 draft. Came into rookie minicamp a bit out of shape, tweak his ankle and had an older knee injury flame up that basically made his rookie season a redshirt one.

I am huge on Porter, he is a great pick for the Saints and the defense they want to run (as opposed to Jason David who is a better fit for the defense they should run for the time being). So what if he's shy of 6 feet tall, he's a great cover man with skills that exceed those of other prospects.

One thing we, as giants fan learned, is that Reese/Coughlin won't let the inmates run the asylum! They held firm with Strahan, and with Shockey. So all future giants players and current ones should learn from this. Reese/Coughlin are on the same page. The Fasshole era is loooooooooooooooong gone!

Another impressive weapon added to the Saints offensive arsenal. The value was right. Only the Giants front office thought Shockey was a 1st round value. BBD is right in that it would've been better had they realized this on/before the draft. But it was a good move for both teams.

Shockey is a very good run blocker which is something they really needed out of their TE position. Heck, they really just needed a TE, so this has got to make them ecstatic. If Shockey can stay healthy (I have doubts about that), Brees may go to him like he did to Antonio Gates in SD. A different offense, but still... he has that reliable option now.

For NY, Shockey had to go. He was a bigger cancer there than TO ever was for the Cowboys. I always thought it was funny to hear Giants fans say TO is gonna ruin things "any minute now".... yet it never happened. Meanwhile they had to deal with Tiki, Shockey, Plax... etc. But hey, they won the SB without Shockey so they know they can win without him.

For the NFC East... phew, a nice exhale now that Shockey is out of the division. As bad a character as he was, he definitely kept defensive coordinators up at night.

How can Saints deal the 2009 2nd round pick of theirs if they can possibly owe that to NYJ in the Vilma deal as apart of the compensation pick in 2009(Taking Vilma plays like a stud, In which we would then give up our or WSH 2009 4th round pick)?

No, I want him (or Maurice Evans) to fall to the Colts with the 32nd overall pick. ;)

Greg Middleton is the best DE in this year's draft. His measurables are off the charts and he actually backs it up with production (SURPISE!!!).

If that was true, the trade wouldn't have gotten to this point. Don't you think the Saints would realize what picks they can or cannot trade?

We don't know the exact details of the Vilma trade. For all we know, maybe part of the upgrade in compensation was signing him to a long-term deal before he hits free agency, ala Donte Stallworth to the Eagles a few years ago.

That's for a 3rd rounder. Chacing.

I am all smiles right now. Bush may now just have the blocking force essential to help get him to the outside. In terms of value the deal could be deemed adequate though you gotta really like this one for the Saints. Oh boy this Saints offense is explosive !!!!! :D

New Orleans was my pick to win the NFC before the draft, and I'm definitely sticking with that now.
