I've coached against swinging gate type offenses before as well as stuff that looks like this this a11. The only time they work is when the other team is caught of guard by what they see. Trust me when I say, I've seen them work well only when the D is caught off guard. I've also seen them fail a hundred times when the D has a plan against them. I've seen a D go man up just like I said and have these trick offenses get smashed. I've also seen it get ruined by penalties. Some ineligible line-man pulls a homer and goes running 15 yards down field before the ball is thrown or gets run passed the LOS.
