If Ryan and Turner are back, we have a chance...

In fact, if Sanchez is playing, we have a chance. A few turnovers would be helpful.

But then again, it is against our defense. We could be making him look like the Sanchize again.

This season sucks with these injuries. This 3 game stretch (vs. PHI, vs. NO, @ NYJ) was supposed to define us as a team and push us into playoffs, but the only thing that happened during those times were L's without Matt Ryan and Michael Turner playing; not exactly what I had in mind for a crucial playoff push. We will probably have to wait another year for a meaningful Falcons game. Though this game against the Jets defines whether we break the curse or not, which is interesting.

2 years. Unless we make a ton of improvements, we aren't making the playoffs next year either.

Unless kroy biermann and sidbury explode next year. Chris Owens improves by a mile, we pick up a stud CB during free agency. DeCoud, BABS, and Lofton play like they right now. Peria Jerry and William Moore come back like crazy from their injuries. Nicholas is the best 3rd down backer, and we get a stud OLBer in the first round.

Gonzo do what gonzo do, turner healthy, o-line blocking good, matt ryan composed, roddy doing his thing, and jenkins catching at least 60% of the passes thrown to him.

I don't see why we can't win the superbowl next year.

So we are officially out of the playoffs now with the dallas win. Only thing we can fight for is a winning season.

Sorry if it's not the same without my anger guys. It's not the same when there's absolutely nothing on the line. :(

But yeah, awful first half. And for as big of a problem as the defense is, I've forgotten how terrible Matt Ryan has been this year, and how he needs more weapons or something, because he is just atrocious.

Ball in Ryan's hands, playing hurt, 4th quarter deficit... I just felt like he would get it done.

Also, great job by our D. Apart from one slipup by our rookie corner, they had a great day.

The winning season is still on the cards...

Yep. If you are going to win this one, might as well win vs the Bucs and Buffalo. The only thing that scares me about that is the thought of TD feeling he doesn't need to make any moves solely because we went 9-7 with injuries.

Man our defense played great today. The jets are a great running team, but we shut that down and made them pass. Yes they have a rookie QB, but the coverage was still great most of the game. **** Chris Houston, Brent Grimes and Chris Owens had a great day.

No matter what, no way in hell I'm gonna hope my team loses for a better draft position. Winnings season here we come.

Serious? TD is going to realize we have glaring holes on our team; he isn't dumb.

This was a pretty great game. Ryan leading a GW drive against the #1 pass defense (#1 YPA, #1 in comp. %, #1 in opposing QB rating) and Gonzo catching his second 4th down TD pass in the Meadowlands was pretty sweet. At the same time tough, it makes me cringe when I think about the coin flip against the Giants and the fact that Ryan was out in the home games against NO and PHI (we would have gone at least 1-1). Damnit. At least breaking the curse is in sight.

Right. Because 7 out of 8 players playing on the defensive side from our last draft means he isn't trying to help the defense. And drafting 3 DBs and 2 DL means he is completely unaware of the fact that we have a struggling pass defense too.

Just because he didn't go out to make trades or sign mid level or better FAs doesn't mean he didn't realize it...It takes a while for players to develop and making big signings for quick fixes is not the way to go.

He couldn't have thought that all of those guys coming in from the draft were going to make any kind of difference right away. The only two who were realistic for making a difference this year were Moore and Jerry with a very outside shot of Sidbury/Owens. He might be aware of it, but he really didn't take the necessary steps to fix it. I'm sure he'll keep adding on defense through the draft, but we really need to add some FA help this year. I just don't want to finish 9-7 and have him think that keeping all of the coaches and not signing free agent help is the way to go again.

Well he did a good job of bringing in peterson and brian williams. He figured maybe chris houston can hold it up, and chevis jackson and grimes can be #3 CB/nickle. The defense is still young but there aren't any rookies starting, well at least not until 2 weeks ago.

Also on offense we have no rookies, and most of our players are/should be in the prime of their career. Harry Douglas freak injury really hurt us.

They either under-performed, or we have the worst coaching/coordinators in the NFL. Maybe a combination of both.

Definitely a combination of both. Last year, we relied heavily on our WRs and passes to the outside; I thought with the addition of Tony Gonzalez would make our attack much more balanced. The result however, didn't go like that. Harry Douglas injury hurts a lot because he was a guy who could attack the field horizontally and vertically with his speed. Once he was out and Norwood was oft injured as usual, our balance must have cut out. Roddy White is a great balanced receiver, but as a #1 receiver, he can't do everything because of the attention it draws (#1 CBs, double teams). After that, we had slow Jenkins and Gonzalez and Finneran and Booker; those guys are not getting open unless they run the perfect route without a jam.

Matt Ryan's development has been far from my expectations as well. I thought he would pick up the balance easily, but obviously not and rightfully so. He is only in his 2nd year and still has ways to go in terms of decision making; this is something only time will help. Even despite his poor statistics, I thought he did a good job of improving his accuracy and can shoulder a lot more responsibility now.

We had no rushing attack pretty much all year. Turner was bad early and when he started to get hot, he got injured. We really needed that 3rd target. Tony Gonzales and Roddy White had a great year, and did their part.

Even though the stats are there, Michael Jenkins really regressed from last year after getting a fat new contract. He dropped way too many balls this year.

I think Ryan had a sophomore slump, no doubt about it, but he still had some big time performances in the clutch as we saw in the Giants game and yesterday. I think our passing offense suffered due to the injuries to Harry Douglas and Jerious Norwood. The third and fourth options are essential to have a balanced offense. This year teams were doubling both Gonzalez and White and daring anyone else to beat the 1-on-1 matchup.

michael jenkins didn't even have to be covered. He dropped so many balls when he was wide open. Pretty much he limited our 3rd and long to just tony gonzalez who had like 3 guys on him all the time.

I am not too worried. I think with one good draft and a few pickups here and there, with an easier (?) schedule I think we will be in contention at the very least.

Carlos Rogers + a productive draft class would do it.

Man, Derrelle Revis is such an amazing CB, so fun to watch too. We desperately need a CB that can be physical in coverage but has that closing speed.

He was ridiculous. That was as good of a CB performance as I have seen in a while. He was all over the place making plays and sticking to Roddy like glue. The fact that he can single-handedly take out #1 receivers really throws offenses off and is a huge reason that the Jets D is ranked #1 (esp. pass D). I have to give my hats off to that Rex Ryan coached defense. Wow. I was pretty astonished when I was watching that game. There were almost no yards after the catch and the Jets defenders flew to the ball like no other.

That is definitely one of the best CB performances I have ever seen. His only blemish was failing to hold onto the potential game-sealing interception. Could we just take a mulligan and trade Anderson for Revis, please?

Our D had a great game, but playing Sanchez in tough conditions does not mean that our pass D suddenly became good (and while our run D was exceptional, the crapness of Sanchez meant we could stack 8 or 9 in the box).

Owens looks promising. A lot of good guys have been beaten deep by Braylon, and I was really impressed with how he recovered from that error and had a good game afterwards, including shutting down another deep ball to Braylon by matching him step by step.

Grimes can be a playmaker, but a good, accurate QB will always abuse him by putting the ball up where only the taller receiver can catch it.

It is interesting that our pass D has improved since Houston has been injured. I have normally been a defender of Houston, but the difference was notable.

We need a top level CB (or two, although that's unrealistic) and DE to be a real contender. I think that otherwise our D is ok. I'm happy with the linebackers and safeties. I'd spend big money on the best free agent CB we can get (Rogers, Robinson), and use our 1st on a DE.

A D-line of Abraham, Biermann, Sidbury, Davis, 1st rounder (e.g. Morgan), Anderson, Jerry, Babineaux, Johnson, and either Lewis or Walker would be a pretty good 10 from which to choose 8.
